Anonymous, 19 Jul 2010To the people that are thinking about getting this phone an... morehi there.

you must be able to install .apk apps to this phone, but you need to run the application installer from HTC sync from your pc. you cannot run .apk extensions natively from the Android OS. need an installer, which is either the market or HTC sync (at least for this phone.) ps get better headphones and you will be amazed by the sound. HTC ones are a bit lacking.

How do you edit your home screen, as in how do you remove application shortcuts from the homepage of an HTC desire phone. I know how to add to the screen, but i don't know how to remove these shortcuts.
Plus i also wanna know how to access my memory card.

Ok, So I upgraded from my old Nokia N96 to the HTC Desire because I couldn't wait anymore for the N8 to be released as it was taking almost forever. The HTC Desire is quite nice and sleek and a very good alternative to the iPhone (which I didn't even consider) for many reasons.
              1) has a GPS receiver
              2) has an FM Radio
              3) Has a removable battery and therefore ability to have spare batteries

downside as opposed to my N96:
              1) Sound quality is no where near both in the stereo speaker and the headphones. the Nokias are far superior despite the review on here. The loudest setting is not loud enough either.
              2) In-Built memory is not as great.
              3) Supported software is quite limited. I wanted to install FishText on it but there was no support to get a .apk file. I converted a jar/jad file to .apk, still didn't work.

              Overall:
I am quite satisfied, but I do miss using my Nokia. I think this is largely change management issue than weakness of the phone. But I am glad I bought this over the iPhone. It is a totally over-rated crap piece of hardware with a fancy UI. I'm glad the HTC Desire meets the best of both worlds. I do wish the Nokia N8 came out earlier though...

The first 2 months I was very happy with it. Until I updated from firmware 1.15 to 1.21. The phone restarts itself several times a day. First it was only after 5-10 minutes of using apps/games/internet or whatever.
People on forums thought it was due to overheating. I don't believe that. Because the rebooting occurs now while I'm doing nothing (phone only in standby).
This is a huge problem. DON'T BUY THIS PHONE UNTIL HTC HAS A RESOLUTION FOR THIS!! After the fix, you MUST buy it if you don't like the IPhone's restrictions (No Flash for instance).

Just search for "HTC Desire Reboots" on google and see how many people have this problem.

Anonymous, 17 Jul 2010this phone is awesome!!!!!!!!!Battery Life Unbelivably Very Short.

Got Mine , New, a week or so ago, from an authorised distrubtor. It looks like and awesome phone, nice interface, hangs only twice in the last few days. Large beautiful and very clear screen. Nice weight, however my first day of use brought a terrible surprise, The battery lasted about 4 to 5 hours after maybe 10 short calls, email updated hourly, weather update and stock market hourly too and very minimal browsing in my attempt to book fireflyz for a few minutes.

Just about after lunch the battery indicator turns red and asked for a recharging. I had to turn it off.

Last two day, left it on overnight after charging, and the battery indicator shows some 70% left, after hardly 8 hours of standby with all data off.

Also daytime use last few days, with all data off, no internet, maybe 5 calls, the battery reaches about 4pm, its scarry!!! I need to recharge in the middle of the day?

Today the dealer told me to go to SIS and asked the battery to be changed. Come On, you got to be kidding !!!!!! No wonder prices for second hand set over Mudah is dropping down like dead flies.

ROBIN, 18 Jul 2010you dont need a phone seriously. you need a test tube baby ... more...besides, ROBIN, just take a look at the following nice phone apps made for the Win Mo OS. I tried them on my SE X2...they have a lot of the features i'm asking about. They are very lovely apps especially the Iconsoft PhonEx v2.2

Also, if you've seen the iPhone b4, you will know that it abounds in animated screen transitions...and that makes the phone lovely...it makes you want to pick it everytime...it has a relaxing effect on your spirit.

...And since i have the means to purchase the best phone in the world, i don't see why i should settle for anything that lacks in these features...

My HTC desire reboots after 5 min. I can not use the MP3, GPS, Internert and the call should be less than 5 minutes. Sent back to repair after 2 weeks.
