Mike, 06 Jul 2010Hi guys just ordered a HTC Desire, coming from an iPhon... moreCongrats with your new Desire.

MP3 audio quality is average with the supplied HTC headset, but good with better headphones. I've tried it with Sennheiser CX 300-II and the quality was very good.
I've also tried Shure SE210 headphones: the quality is fantastic.
Yes, there is coverflow with the music. You can also use Spotify (from Market) to get extra info.

Loudspeaker quality is poor (then again, it has only mono).

See a few posts below my comment regarding battery life.

Android 2.2 is expected in the coming few months. While 2.1 is already fine and stable, 2.2 will bring extra goodies (speed, extra features, etc).

I do believe that HTC Desire is a better value for money than SE X10. You can compare yourself.

Hi, i have ordered this phone after careful comparison to the Iphone4. i wanted to know that i use an application called "fishtext". they say that their application will work on any java enabled phone. is the HTC java enabled? and would it run on the Desire?

P.s... it seems an amazing phone, so cant wait to get my hands on it... Vodafone and T-mobile both sold out at the more so still pre ordering. anybody out there would like to share feature wise how different is this to the nexus one?

        Hi guys

just ordered a HTC Desire, coming from an iPhone 3GS 32GB Handset
had to sell it and get my own contract instead of using my stepfathers, parents getting divorced!
i had a bad credit rating, but now its all ok and im back to normal, hooray!
so i had to end his contract early and pay £320 to get out of it! eeeeeek!!!
luckily i sold the 3GS to my mate for £260 cash, so that goes towards contract final bill!
was gonna get another 3GS, but fancied a change, and the iPhone 4 is a joke with all its problems, signal reception issues and APPLE lying all over the net about it, i`ll give it a miss this time

just need a few opinions on the HTC, have read many many reviews all over GOOGLE etc
but wanting real opinions from users on here

MP3 Audio Quality, any good with expensive headphones when plugged in to the HTC?
the 3GS was excellent with plenty of volume using my £140 Ultimate Ears Headphones
all my MP3`s are ripped at 320kbps anyway, does it use coverflow like the iPhone?

Loudspeaker Quality, plenty loud enough when using handsfree in an office ? better than the 3GS?

Battery Life? will it last a whole day?

anything else it shines on? i know the screen is good on it
and is Android 2.2 available for it yet?

any advice would be great, or have i made a mistake and should have gone for the Sony X10 ??

        Cheers

Ppl need to realize that battery tech has not improved that much. No powerful smart phone will last more than one day. If you want a 3.5in screen and 1GHz processor you cannot expect a high battery life.
I had a nokia e61i. Battery is 1500 mAh and lasts 3 days with extream use. But 2.8in and 2XX mHz processor allows this.
Anyways. I have a problem with my desire with phone not unlocking when i need to answer call. Email to HTC reccomended hard reset which did not work. I live in trinidad but phone was purchased in UK. htc said send in phone as it is on warrenty. Its on its way back to me. Htc took 5 days to sort it out. Cant wait to get it back. Will post what was wrong. But must say so far customer service is pretty good.
Even though i had it for 2 days before i sent it for repair, it is as good as they say it is. One disadvantage is the legibility in sunlight is extreamely poor. One advantage is speed is blazingly fast.

The poor typing facility on Desire made me loose one digit. It should of course read N95 8 Gb (to be correct) of course! Anybody with some sort of experience with Nolia Mobiles would have figured that out!

Gorgeous phone with absolutely RUBBISH battery life. If you use your phone a lot and can't be bothered with charging everyday, don't go for it.
My N95 spoiled me - high usage phone calls but only needs charging every 2/3 days.
I really liked the phone but wished that HTC would have spent bit more on battery technology.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2010Im interested in buying this phone. Can someone tell me so... moreThe battery life is average/poor.
                        The standby is good.
With a normal usage (30m internet, BT on, 30m GPS navigation, 30m talk, 30m music + video) you will have to charge daily.
With a passive usage (mostly standby, 10m talk) the phone can last 2-3 days.
There are steps to take to prolong it as much as possible.

Jan, 05 Jul 2010NO,NO NO, The HTC Desire is far from expectations! Coming ... moreThe limitation to install apps on SD card is not an issue.

First, you can have more than 100+ apps installed with an extra space in internal memory available.

Second, you can install CFW with APPS2SD mod, which will allow you to install apps on SD.

Third, Android OS 2.2 is expected to come out for Desire in July or August, which should fix this matter.

Marcus vJ, 04 Jul 2010I have this phone. Its great in every way. I cant begin to... moreNO,NO NO,
The HTC Desire is far from expectations! Coming from the Ericsson and Nokia world, I believe the cometiques provided by the Desire/Android. Unfortunately I gave away my Nokia N95(the best phone I ever had, and I have tried most of the "state of the arts") the other way.
Just been talking to the HTC support regarding hitting the roof with my apps. Desire automatically decide where to put all things you want to save/store, ie photos and music on your SD memory AND ALL apps on your telephone memory, icluding data. No chance to redirect if you want. This is a great limitation. In my case The SD memory has a lot of free space and the telephone memory is full, without me being able to do something about it.
The sound is terrible compared to the 3-4 years old N9. The hands free phone plugs are for elephants, and when trying to source up new compatible ones, the standards seem to differ between manufacturers. At the moment I use the supplied elephant plugs as hands free when driving and just sound plugs for music and radio. By the way.... the radio is just terrible!!!

This is the HTC Desire forums.!!!! if you don't own one, or never did, stay the hell out.

I will join the list of those impressed by my new HTC Desire, except the loudspeaker! How rude to put such a pathetic speaker in such a hi tech unit. as others have mentioned Nokia N95 speakers sound like hi fi in comparison.
I took the phone back to see what was wrong and am still not convinced the speaker sounds at all normal. Almost a good enough reason to reject the phone outright. Will HTC be willing to do something about this major fault?
