Sorry to hear about your problem Claudia, hope that the next phone you choose won't be such a pain. When buying such expensive tech we all hope it works like it should. Good luck with your iPhone.

Hein, 14 Jun 2010Okay, where to begin... Typing this from my new Desire I... moreHi Hein, I am too Desire owner since mid of April. just would like to ask you which task manager app you use (have tried 3 different apps but not loved them, uninstalled, reading technical explanations on how android OS behave against memory issues -and cpu usage as well- played role on my decision to not to use a such task-killer/manager). By now I see no difference with or w/o task manager use. My 3g conn is always open, using wi-fi and bluetooth only when necessary, no facebook or such auto synch/update programs, I update weather and emails manually. In a moderate usage my battery last 24 hrs in average. Thanks

Hi, I have had this phone since it came out in April. This is my second handset as the first one crouched my SD card and wiped everything off and then froze over heated to the point that I could toast and this was with me not charging the battery. The second unit freezes and so you go and shut it down that ddoesn't work so you have to.take.the battery cover off and I can't.tell you how many times I have done that. You will using a programme and all is going well and then ham a force close message comes up, oh and did I forget that for about a week my phone was telling me that the memory was full and guess what it wasn't and you know what I did I had to take the battery out again. The music takes ages sometimes to start up. The internet only works when it wants to I keep droping calls. The camera and video works well oh and did I mention that if I listen to music and do nothing else as I am going to work I have to take the cable with me it needs charging after 45 min of music. I miss my hero but I have been spoilt by this screen so I can't go back. Sorry but I will be trying the iPhone when it comes out.

JohnSmith, 14 Jun 20101)Can I install language packs to the phone? Or type in oth... moreThere are tons of different language keyboards to type from on this phone, but they need to be installed via the app store. There is also Anysoftkeyboard. With this app you can change the keyboard language on the fly once you have installed the language pack for it.

I'm having a hard time getting a language pack to change the entire phone's language, doubt if any are available yet. I only have the default three of those I've mentioned. Don't know if buying the phone in another country will change the default languages that are available.

The phone comes default with English Portuguese and France as selectable languages. I will reply to your post again if I have successfully installed another language pack.

2)What are the languages that comes with the phone? Is it subjected to region?

I would appreciate it, if anyone could answer these questions.

I noticed some people complain about this phones memory. I have 260 RAM free after I close the apps I don't need. How much RAM do you want on your phone? And another thing, be patient, android 2.2 will allow you to install apps on the SD card.

Hopeless how HTC has decided NOT to support multiple Exchange Servers. Android supports it - but not HTC's Sense. I was looking forward to getting a Legend or a Desire - but now it seems i (unfortunately) have to switch to the Iphone bandwagon as the newly revealed Iphone 4G will support multiple Exchange accounts. And here I thought Desire was (somewhat) a businessphone!?!

                                    Okay, where to begin...

Typing this from my new Desire I got a week ago, and so far so good. First off I would just like to say, if you have a hard time choosing between this phone and an iPhone, just know that the amount of customization on this phone will rock your socks off. Android apps have caught up to those on the iStore and there are some jawdropping good applications out there. Game wise, this phone ain't half bad either and you would be surprised at what games you can find for this phone.

On to the technical stuff. Speedy like a blue little hedegehog runt, is an understatement. This is by far the fastest handset I have ever used.(so far) and I had the privilege of using an iPhone, Samsung omnia 2, jet and the HTC hd2 and this phone wins in the speed department.

The HTC sense user interface is awesome and the touch input keyboard is as close to the iPhone as you will get. Hard to say its better, but it is in the same league, the one reason I would say its better, is because you can download others that improve upon the stock keyboard.

Next up, battery. I know you all have big questions about this, and I can say that the battery ain't bad. The only gripe I have with this phone is the fact that applications don't close by itself. This isn't a big problem with a task manager, but its pretty annoying. Now my point... without my Taskiller app, my battery would be dead in 3 hours or less, however if you manage the apps you're phone is running, then that time increases exponentially. My battery is sitting on 14% as I'm typing this and I pulled it from the charger about 19 hours ago. Now you might go and say that's pretty weak, but here's my selling point. I have EVERYTHING except WiFi and Bluetooth enabled. Auto sync with Google, weather, location service and facebook all on, as well as my 3g network settings and the phone isn't dead yet, that's pretty good in my opinion. In that time I browsed the net, installed/uninstalled apps, played games listened to music all in moderate use though and the phone's still kicking. My opinion is the battery is better than my previous phone and therefore I have no problems. Expect to charge it daily, if you use it like I do, but to me that's normal.

                                    Battery tips.
Reduce screen brightness to a level that suits you and disable the auto brightness feature.
Download Taskiller, it works great, infact... its the only one I found that works for my desire. Managing the apps is key to longer battery life.
                                    Disable auto sync.
                                    Disable background data service.
Only enable Bluetooth and WiFi when needed.
                                    Only enable 3g when needed.
Manage your widgets. Widgets count as apps that's open 24/7 and the task manager only close them when you force them to close.... so, having 20 widgets open counts as 20 apps showing away at your battery. A shortcut works just as well as a widget, but you won't have the cool looks the widget have.
Last, but not least, internet use is BY FAR the worst battery vampire for this phone. Expect 1 - 2% battery drop as punishment just for a manual sync button press. From a full battery to a empty one can take just 4 to 5 hours. On a good notr, every time I charge phone the battery lasts longer... only have it for a week now and the battery still improves after each charge.

Camera. I'm impressed with the camera, very impressed. It takes decent shots even in low light as well as indoors. All features of the camera works great and if you know what color settings to change, this camera is even more amazing.

Anyway that's all I wanted you all to know. Hope this helps with your decision.
