I'm from Sweden, hv ordered Desire as soon as it is announced by my present carrier, Hi3G a.k.a. "3" on a 24 months contract; 299 sek + 69 for the device (~40 USD) including data/surf on 7,2 Mbit/s until 5 Gb quota is reached (then the speed is limited to 384kbit/s until month-shift, no additional charges come) also the 299 sek cost is used for calls. Think this is better than what offered in the UK for same.

I totally aggree with 24 months contract, it's rediculous payin 35 pound for such a long period. the best one for now, looks like t-mobile vivaz one from carephone warehouse. still 24 month but it's 25 pound, you get 900 min, 500 text and unlimited internet. you may not get the phone you like but at least the pack is reasonable and when you upgrade it you can still get the phone you like and keep the price plan.

bob, 22 Mar 2010T-Mobile 24 Months £30 per month This offer is... moreIt will be outmoded in 6 months yet your signing up for 2 yrs?? It used to be in uk 25GBP for 12 months now its seems everywhere wants 35GBP for 24 months..No thanks im sim free prepay and if you cannot afford it sim free wait for a while to drop in price and save up in the mean time..This 24 months contract will kill people stuck with it so when they come to renew it and know what 24 months feels like they wont sign again,,so if you can only afford this on a massive contract your stuck with it for 2 years and if you cannot afford it sim free then your spending above your means really but sim free you can sell after 1,2,3,4,5,6 months and get the next fone..

In 6 months time were getting near the christmas fone line up and all the new goodies but you will still have 18 momnths left on your contract..The MWC will arrive with all the new goodies and you will still have 12 months left..Then 2011 christmas line up will be here and you wont be able to upgrade again ..Not for me and glad to be out of it.

.On t-mobile prepay for 10GBP i get unlimited internet or 500MB and unlimited txt (3000) so with the few fone calls i make the 10 GBP suffices..If you need big minutes or the lot please search round and get the best deal for your contract so you gain..I know its up to you, i know that, i just want to put some perspective out there for people to think instead of just rushing in and signing on the dotted line..Thanx Brynn

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2010Is this phone better than x10.........does android phones h... moreandroid does hv multitasking.

as for x10 vs desire, it rly depends on personal taste.

                        - screen:
desire has a smaller screen but more dpi and amoled so its a better quality screen, just smaller. also currently the x10 is limited to 65k. updating from android 1.6 to 2.1 shud solve this problem, but y w8 for the update to bcom available?

                        - input methods:
desire has multitouch (which se x10 shud also get wen its updated to android 2.1, but y w8?) desire also has an optical trackball which can be useful if u dont want ur screen to hv several fingerprints and its probably more precise than ur fingers alone. desire also has a proximity sensor which is gr8 but rly not all that important. the x10 is scratch resistant which is always a good thing.

                        - performance and os/ui:
depends on taste. i find xperia ui v beautiful but too blue at times. htc ui is in my opinion simpler and less demanding on the phone so it might perform slightly better. also the htc has much more ram and this shud gr8ly improve performance. desire comes with android 2.1 out of the box. with the x10 ull hv to w8 for se to make that update available and that might take some time.

                        - media:
in terms of cam quality and features, x10 wins. it records better video as well. the desire is hardware capable of recording video at the same resolution and quality (technically) but its limited to d1 by software which is a shame. however, sound quality shud be better on the desire since it has dolby sound enhancement.

                        - battery life:
x10 wins, but both shud last u a full day of heavy use.

                        - extras:
desire comes with a digital compass for better navigation as well as a lot of widgets designed specifically by htc for the ui, such as facebook, twitter, flickr... apps. also going back to what i mentioned about hving more buttons: its got a dedicated search key. definitly useful. the desire also has radio. in my opinion, its not a v useful feature but some ppl rly want it. also for some reason it says x10 is expandable up to 16gb (this might be a gsmarena mistake) but the desire is expandable up to 32gb. the more the better here as u dont wna end up with several microsd cards. the x10 also has a few extras. it comes with an 8gb microsd card while u will need to buy 1 for the desire. also its got trackid (as far as im aware of) which helps identify tracks of songs u might not know the name of. a cool feature but not v useful.

                        - price:
according to some preorders, the htc desire is €200 cheaper than the x10. and so far i hvnt found a single preorder (where i live) where the x10 is cheaper than the desire. both these phones r similar so i dont c the point in paying that much more for the x10 especially wen it will come with out of the box in need of updates.

personally id choose the x10. but thats just me. id also understand y ppl wud choose the x10. cheaper alternatives of both r x10 mini, x10 mini pro (which comes with a qwerty keyboard), and htc legend (which i think is the best looking android phone currently available)

They finally added a radio, one of the most common features and HTC always forgets, I will be getting this one.
I don't get why so many top of the line phones omit this simple feature.
