The HTC Desire 816 phablet has been warmly received in China where over a million people registered their interest to buy one. Those registrations are slowly turning into actual sales - slowly, because there were only 50,000 units available and they flew off the shelves in 10 minutes.

HTC Desire 816 now available in Kerala. Bought mine today at Thrissur. Good phone for the price, great sound quality, good camera setup and screen, overall smooth performance with no lag whatsoever. Tried a few games like subway surfers, Asphalt 8 and PES 2012, smooth gaming performance as well. Compared to Xperia T2 Ultra, the battery is a bit on the lower side, but it more than makes up for that with a better camera setup and the boomsound speakers. Performance wise, not much of a difference between the Xperia and the Desire. Miles ahead of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2.
For anyone confused between the Xperia T2 Ultra and the Desire 816, go for the Xperia if u want a bigger screen and battery, and choose the HTC Desire for a better experience in terms if sound and camera quality. In the end it all boils down to personal preferences. Oh n btw, I got mine (white model) for INR 23750... This is my second HTC phone after my HTC Explorer which currently runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. And I am absolutely loving my experience right now...

I own it for close to 2 weeks now, and i can tell you that i have no problem with it, except for the storage space, that i fixed with a card. The screen is really perfect for what i use it, and the battery is quite ok,and the Extreme Power Saver really helps when you want to conserve energy. The sound is really close to One M8(i didn't notice any difference, and unless you are in a sound studio, or something like that, most likely nobody else will). I really like the styling, the color(white) and it fits perfectly in my pocket. The camera is perfect for taking pictures, the focus is good, and the results are comparable to any other camera(within MP range) currently on the market. The buttons are perfeclty placed(the guys that placed them are geniuses) because i allways use my left hand to hold and unlock the device and my right hand to touch or swipe(because it's a phablet, not a phone!!!). Keep in mind that when you buy this phablet, you are buying a PHABLET and not a phone, there are reasons, and most of them are related to the size of the display and not only the excellent price. Hopefully, next month, i will buy a red one for my wife.
