I've been using my HTC desire816 since febuary 2015, haven't any prob with it yet, satisfied with my battery performance, only negative point is the cameras performance and image quality but it does not matter for me because I am photographer and I always have my DSLT Camera, anyway I'm also regret not be able to upgrade to Nouga.

AnonD-670337, 18 May 2017what can i do, i could only update mines to android 5.0 but... moreHTC released 6.0 for the 816 a while ago, but Virgin Mobile has not performed their part of the task, and probably never will. Bringing new versions of android to a given phone requires that the hardware vendor develop a ROM, and that the service provider modify and distribute that ROM to support their service needs.

The Virgin Mobile version of the 816 (700c A5_CHL) is sufficiently different from the normal 816 (A5, A5_DUG, etc) that quite a lot of stuff is not compatible between them, and virgin USA sold so few of these phones, all of them on the prepaid model, that they have relatively few customers to disappoint and no consequences to doing so.

Likewise there are so few A5_CHL out there that aftermarket support is fairly poor, rooting the phone at all is overly difficult and dangerous, and I've never found a fully functional ROM for it other than stock.
