glad to tell mine working properly untill now reply you. i think you should try update cause you own the htc not htc own you. the weird line? its better than waiting or requesting htcuntill its die in stock rom. here some tips, when start flash,you wear the darkest glass, do the kungfu or karate move in front both htc and pc monitor, i guaranty it will success once try with no error drag cause you the boss

I manually updated 2 month ago to lollipop 5.0.2 with simple step by
http://www.itechaditya.com/htc-desire-820s-lollipop-rom (credit for them)
lollipop will take big space of your internal space but fix many issue on kit kat.
-good battery life
-not too overheating
-gps lock faster
-camera function got slowmo , selfie smile capture(replace peace capture)
-got kid mode/eps/flashlight/boomsound/sync manager
&many more
update it on your own risk and you will love your 820s again
no pain no gain braaahh..
