Hi guys...I Hv come across all the contradictory reviews n opinions regarding the new HTC Desire 826. I actually need to buy a phone for my Dad in a price range of 20-25k.He has been using Lumia for more than 2 years now,but wanna switch to Android as he finds it more versatile n user friendly. I actually suggested him Mi4, Bt with Xiaomi being a new brand in the Indian market, its hard to convince him regarding the same.He liked Desire 820.I'm a hardcore Sony lover, been using Xperias for 3.5 years but Couldn't find any decent and appealing Samsung or Sony phone in this range.I really liked the look n overall specs of Desire 826,but heard that HTC phones have a lot of hanging issues n devices usually don't work smoothly n this phone has a lot of heating n battery issues rolling through the opinions.can some one please give me an honest n unbiased opinion, whether this phone is worth a buy or not????or whether should I go for any other option????

Naveen, 02 May 2015I purchased this HTC826 Two days back. Since today morning... moreThe same thing happened to me. Bought 826 from Kerala and it reached me in Jordan on 1st may. I could take only two photos. Then the camera got crashed. It says 'Camera stopped unexpectedly'. I contacted HTC online customer care and as per their directions did everything, but no result. Now am waiting for somebody to take the phone to kerala for repair or replacement. Really bad experience. Phone is good. But...in my case...

This is one of d best android phone!!!!!!
                There are just 2 problems:
                (1) Battery drains comparitively fast
                (2) It heats up very oftenly
Else use it carefully to get best from it and i loved its front and rear camera.
                3.75/5

AnonD-390646, 28 Apr 2015I just bought the HTC desire 826 couple of days back after ... moreHi, I do like your content about HTC d826, It's the only smartphone brand I've used, and still am, since 2012. But my current one is quite old as you very well understand, there are some issues with my model, HTC wildfire S, but in spite of all those I just love it and would want my next phone to be HTC only. But all the other reviews here are very mixed and confusing, so I don't know what to do. What I want to know is if this phone runs smoothly and without lags? Even after a period of usage? Is the space enough, cause it shows only 8/16gb is available. How bad is it when in direct sunlight? Totally dark? I'll be more than happy if the battery lasts 12 hrs. And nowhere does it say that the screen has gorilla glass. I used a model at the store a while and really liked it. But as it is 25k I don't want to be frivolous about spending it.

Not sure about whether it applies to 615 / octacore chipsets. But if you want to save battery life, there is one setting you could change which would significantly reduce batter usage (during idle times). I'm not sure if it applies to all other brands since I'm using One M8. Go to settings, select locations. Then for Mode, use Battery Saving. It says use WiFI and mobile networks to determine location. If you switch off WiFi most of the time (I use my 4G data package), then it pings only the mobile network for location. Did wonders for me. When I need to use Navigation apps, I just go back into settings and choose High Accuracy.

Hi... I bought HTC 826 Dual Sim Blue Lagoon on April 13 2015. This phone was amazing to use. I awaited for the phone for long time and brought it. I use to handle it carefully. Not even a Single scratches. Some times it heats up more. But due to plastic body I can't feel the heat much. on April 26th 2015 my display started Malfunctioning. I need to touch 4 -5 times to make it work. HTC service center in chennai is near to my office and I directly took it to service center. There was a long queue waited for two and half hours for their call. Then they asked to wait for 2 days to confirm with the issue whether it related to software or hardware(display). I waited for the call/ And on April 30th I went directly to service center to check the status of my mobile. But it was in pending status an they dint checked it for the 3 days. Then they asked me to wait for some times to check the mobile. And then they confirmed it is a defective piece. They cant identify the issue. They gave me a DOA certification to sent the mobile back to Amazon.

Only one service center in Chennai and no manpower to handle customers.
They can't identify the issue. But they gave me the DOA certificate for refund.

12 days of experience with this mobile is really good. But this issue really upset me. I am a great Fan of HTC. I'll surely once again buy HTC 826 a second chance. I hope I won't get the same issue again.

Padma, 02 May 2015I want to buy this phone..can anyone respond to its cons?I purchased this HTC826 Two days back.
Since today morning it's Camera not working.
I been to dealer to show him if he could solve the problem - he says go to HTC Service Centre. They will issue a note then only I will replace it.
                              So think twice 😩

Anonymous, 01 May 2015Have u ever used samsung a7? Or just telling like a jerk...... moreAnd about the heating issues, the processor used in both phones is the same, 1st generation snapdragon 615, which is known to heat. So with prolong use even your processor heats up as much as desire 826 but considering better heat dissipation property of metal chassis the user doesn't feel it. Neither phones will feel the effect of heating on performance before an hour so, maybe a little longer on A7. Thus i consider it neither a merit nor a demerit for either phone aand that's what i wrote.

Anonymous, 01 May 2015Have u ever used samsung a7? Or just telling like a jerk...... moreI apologize about the resolution, considering its full hd its better than d826.

I said camera is better on d826 because it allows alot of manual controls along with appreciable hardware. As phone camera's are not as good as real cameras(u know what i mean), manual tweakings help alot to get a respectable shot.

About the build material, I usually find techradar a trustworthy source. It says as follows:

Quote:In the hand, the phone feels perfectly premium. The metal chassis doesn't extend to the back of the device, though, but I have a feeling that this is something that Samsung is holding back for the Galaxy S6.

And I don't intend to insult Galaxy A7, it was just for the sake of comparison. I dont expect the price to be 10k less, its a premium brand afterall, but so is HTC and if it provides better value for money, whats wrong with mentioning it?
