hanu, 20 Apr 2011What about the wifi issue ...? Can u share ur experience ab... moreI've read in some reviews that putting the phone flat on a surface blocks the antenna (which is on the battery door) Thus the wi-fi signal drops a few bars. However, holding the phone in your hand (without covering the battery flap completely) will solve that problem.
I havn't used wi-fi on the device yet, so I'm not sure how severe the problem is.

I have been toying around with the Desire S the last 2 days. Got it from Alfa (Mumbai) for Rs. 23,500/- with bill and warranty.
It's a great phone- beautifully designed and fits perfectly in the hand. The S-LCD Screen is crisp with faithful color reproduction. I definitely do not miss the blue-tint of the Super AMOLED in the SGS.
The touch interface and the on-screen keyboard are pretty good, and along with HTC sense the user interface is very slick and responsive. The power under the hood does help move things along smoothly.
However, the battery seems to be a slight let down doing about 16 hours between charge. (Of course it being the 1st few days, there's a lot of heavy usage with gps and 3G/EDGE on. The screen seems to be drawing the most amount of power (58%) although the brightness is set to around 15-20%.
I hope in a few days with a few charge cycles and normal useage of the phone, the battery life will stabilize.
GPS is good, with it getting a good lock on multiple satellites in the open. However, as with other phones, it's near impossible to get a GPS lock indoors. The supplied HTC Locations is also good with quite a detailed coverage of Mumbai (and I think the rest of India). Google Maps is the better looking of the two though, and with Google Maps now storing maps offline on the device I prefer that. However, offline route plotting and navigation is possible using HTC Locations.
Music quality seems good. However, music tends to jar on high volumes when using the HTC SRS sound boost with headphones on. Speaker output is pretty soft as are the ringtones. Maybe I need to look into that some more.
Overall, very satisfied with the phone. It has the processing power to run all the apps on the Android Market without a hitch. The screen is amazing as usual and the 3.7" screen space is plenty sufficient for my needs. I'm hoping the stamina will improve in time, but right now I'm looking at it holding a charge only for a day with the screen being on for most part of it.
Overall, Great phone and good value for money. It's been meeting my expectations (features and price) and then some.

All iI can say is AMAZING. S-LCD is exceptional, great experience when using this phone. I gave up my Xperia Arc for desire S & I do not regret it one bit. Only thing is the cam. but its still does a decent job
All i have to say is that anyone looking for a powerful droid u cannot loose with Desire S, also the battery is great much better than my xperia arc or even when i owned the incredible S, the batt. truly remarkable on the desire S. The only phone i would change after this one will have to be the Sensation or maybe the galaxy S 2, depends on when I actually see either phone in my hand. But, for now Desire S kicks ass!! :)

Pros:
1. Professional look
2. Pocketable 3.7'' screen size
3. Android Gingerbread version out of the box
4. Can play DivX/XviD movies
5. World class user interface - HTC Sense 2.1
6. Awesome battery life
7. Solid build and superb design
8. Front camera for Video calling
9. 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon and 768 MB Ram
Cons:
1. Super LCD Screen, Which is inferior compare to Galaxy S super amoled screen
2. 5 MP Camera (For the same price Nokia offering 12 MP N8)
3. Adreno 205 GPU is inferior than Galaxy S PowerVR SGX540 GPU (Run quadrent)
I am from India. I selected Desire S over Galaxy S because of the professional look and pocketable size of Desire S. I ordered in Flipkart on 18.04.2011 and waiting for the arrival. Flipkart price Rs.23750/-(Social network DVD free)

Hanu, 19 Apr 2011Has any body brought this phone ... can u share u r experie... morei just bought this phone HTC'DS 3 days ago in Malaysia. i must its THE best phone i've ever owned. well, i was using Sony Ericsson K800 (its a big jump i know), having a 2.3 OS GingerBread Android is quite interesting, very smooth and super fast response. playing a HD movie trailer is as good as watching it on a LED TV screen. still having problem sms'ing, coz not use to virtual keyboard yet, will take some time i guess..

Desire S camera was mentioned to be defective in the review. How is that?!. Do you guys Desire S owners experience any issue with the camera? is picture quality bad? and also the jerky camcorder?. so downhearted to hear that.
