I just update to 2.3.5 and sense 3.0. I was afraid since i read a lot of negative comments. But i'm glad everything is turn out ok. So far so good. Power options still there. I didn't notice any lag. I like the 3d effect. Perhaps htc has fixed the earlier bugs.

Hi , im from Bangladesh..last night upgraded to 2.3.5 & Sense 3.0. everything is fine. in addition no prob with the restart or aeroplane mode.. cheers

I have recently gotten myself an Desire S, just would like to share my experience with it.
I find this phone very nice, my previous phone was an iPhone 3gs, this phone is a definite upgrade on it.
Pros:
* Look and Feel is awesome, especially after the 2.3.5
upgrade.
* Camera Quality is great, but only in the day.
* Fancy Animations
* Easy to use.
* Very fast compared with the iphone 3gs.
* The keyboard has a function almost like the iphone
when you have to edit something you typed.
* Most of the cons which is software related can be
overcome by third party applications.
* Built in web browser is quite nice compared to the
galaxy tab 7's one.
* Great built in widgets for example: SMS, calendar,
and notes.
* Very fast with its 1GHz CPU.
* Very solid feel in your hand, also a very nice size.
Cons:
* Difficult to get used to keyboard typing when
coming from an iphone.
* No File manager included
* No video player included
* No Camera Button
* No dedicated silent button, have to turn the volume
down.
* Lots of unnecessary apps included which cannot be
removed.
* Battery doesn't seem to be very good, most
smart-phones has this issue actually.
* No easy brightness controls on the pull down menu.
* Data Transfer feature doesn't work very well on the
iphone, only contacts copies over. But if you have
synced your contacts on your Google account on the
iphone, you will suddenly have 2 of every contact on
your phone now, if you then delete all the contacts
on the phone to sync over again, Google's contacts
sync stops working and you have to do a factory
reset and start over again to get it working again.
* Difficult to impossible to root on the new firmware
currently.
* Here in South Africa Where I am from, the phone is
still very new and almost noone has protective
covers and pouches for it.
* If HTC and other manufacturers just would make it
possible to remove unwanted pre installed apps, and
grant a certain level of root access to those more
'Advanced" users it would not be necessary to root
the device.

GSMARENA havnt mentioned about the updated Bluetooth version. Previously it was v2.1 with A2DP,EDR but now it have been upgraded to v3.0. This update came along with the android 2.3.5 update. So do change it in the Specification. Lookin forward to see the change soon

Sujoy, 22 Dec 2011You wont be able to restart ur phone after the updateI m from INDIA n I just updated my handset to android 2.3.5 along with sense 3.0. and to my surprise my Bluetooth was updated to Bluetooth 3.0. And Ders option for Restart, Airplane mode and Power off option as before. I have heard about the lost of the Restart option after installing the update but mine is still intact. I think HTC ve fixed the error. Also along with the update I got a task manager pre installed just like that of the Samsung phones and its easily accessible from the quick settings. I just love the update though I have waited for such a long long time.

[deleted post]I think you wont get a "good" answer here since there's always someone who will comment that this phone or that phone is way better than the other phones. Just ask yourself what phone you really want to hold everyday. In my case, i focused myself to buy the desire s because this is the phone that i really want. Checking the gsmarena review by yourself will help a lot.
