This phone is horrendous. It is the most technologically advanced, yet it is the worst phone I have ever had. My top three complaints (because I have many) are 1) Sluggish typing. It takes me six minutes to type 160 characters because of the software. 2) No option to cut/copy/paste. 3) The phone can only hold 5,000 text messages. After that you must delete them. Then you must go into your 'Deleted Texts' folder and delete them again.

Maybe because i just use my phone for phone calls, no internet nor text messages... but i haven't had any of those problems you guys are talking about, ANY. The only thing that happened to my phone is that it fell and the screen cracked up a bit, easy change and good as new, had it for over a year now and everything works great... obviously is not a bad phone just not good for internet and/or texting...

I had the same problems with the battery and got a new phone the first two weeks, same problem. Sent it in and same problem but this time didn't help to take out battery. Put it in drawer for one year and called them they are sending me a another phone, same HTC. If they don't work why don't they just give us different phones? No one told me at ATT that there were many like problems with phone. Warning , DON"T BUY.

HTC Freestyle?...NEVER AGAIN! I got an HTC Freestlye about a year and a half ago. At first it was fine. But then it started lagging and moved all my images and videos somewhere else! It always freezes and says "Opps! A system error has occured. Restarting." Seriously...? And before that happens, (usually during a text), It startes lagging REAL bad and takes about 3 seconds for EACH character. I can't get a new one until September! My advice -- DON'T GET ONE!

            My god this horrible phone.

At first, when I got the freestyle, it seemed perfect because no smartphone plan, which means you're not locked in for an extremely expensive data plan. I was completely satisfied with it at first, but then I met the problematic freestyle I never knew. This phone was horrible. Here's a brief list of the problems I've been receiving.
            - I'm a huge texter, and at one point, I built up 4500 text messages with my girlfriend. It would perform miserably slow in messaging, taking about 1 second to type each character. And when I tried to delete them all, I met the infamous "oops..." message. I finally reset it and it worked fine, but I lost everything.
            - trying to delete messages wasn't the only time I met the "oops..." message. I met it about once every other day at the least before I reset the first time.
            - when unlocking the phone to read a message from my girlfriend, it stayed on the unlock screen for around 30-45 seconds.
            - after losing everything, I started with a clean phone. Then after around a month later, it started introducing me to new and even more irritating problems.
-sometimes, it wouldn't send a message, even though I had 5-6 bars.
            - it still did the oops screen.
            - the phone eventually got messages 5 minutes - 2 hours late. This was extremely frustrating. And again, I reset.
            - it was fine for the first 2 days. Then even more frustrating problems occurred.
            - keep in mind I'm on my third factory reset. It now is extremely late responsive wise when you touch the screen, around 10 seconds late.
            - it performs slower than ever.
-I turned it off because it froze, and it freezes on the lock screen. It has not start up.
            -it will not even charge.
            - now I'm f*cked. I had my numbers, my pictures, my music, my messages, and a movie of me and my girl riding a ride at an amusement park that I was gonna post on fb and YouTube to prove we did. And now I can't. I f*cking hate this phone.

Overall, this is a piss poor phone and a fail on htc and AT&T s part.

            DO NOT BUY.

Oh HTC Freestyle. This phone has since complicated my life.
                When I first got this phone it seemed great, because it had no data plan and looked like a smart phone. The reviews I seemed to read were fine, until a few months after I recieved it. Just to sum it up, these are the problems I deal with on the daily;
-I'm a big texter, being a teenager, and for most of my texts i recieve duplicates, and at random times
                -I often recieve texts late
-The order in which the texts should go are wrong, so anyone not used to my phone can't read anything easily
-Recently my phone has started to recieve texts that aren't what the sender wrote. It'd show up something like "My cat ran into the wallEven though my mom said yes" but the sender had written "My cat ran into the wall and fell". The only two times this has happened were with conversations with people with Iphones, who screenshotted their messages and it was not what I got. This causes a ton of confusion.
-Plus the phone lags, and takes a few moments to do anything pretty much

I hope some of these problems are what others have experienced, and I can't wait to get a new phone!!

I have sent this Freestyle back four times and each phone does the same thing.... Oops! Anyway, I have taped a short, flattened straw to the right side of the battery to see if the looseness is the problem. The battery will probably never come out ever again, but at least I don't hear it sliding backing and forth now. I was wondering if this fixed Anonymous's problem???? Also, any luck getting HTC to replace the Freestyle with a DIFFERENT KIND OF PHONE??????

AnonD-56515, 27 May 2012We bought this phone for my wife and the first one was a pr... moreA new battery and a factory reset do nothing to stop it from randomly shutting off to the point that you need to remove the battery and reinstall it. The problem looks to be a design flaw in how the battery is placed in the compartment which allows for too much movement between battery and connectors. The reset did help on the random freeze out but not sure for how long as its only been a day or two since that has happened. Also they sent me a replacement phone which was worse than my phone. I am sending it back and getting a different phone. HTC lied to me and said this is the first they had heard about this problem. Typical corporation mentality, if we ignore it and act dumb nobody will be the wiser.

I got this phone after my trusty 5yr old flip phone died on me. Newer is not better, and touch screen will never beat the reliable button. Yes this phone sucks....the predictive texting causes me to have to spell check every text now, not responding to touch when I want it to, and where did the traditional Notepad go. I need a good ol fashioned PHONE, I think this piece of equipment confuses itself.

THINGS THAT MAY HELP YOUR HTC FREESTYLE:

1.) Buy an SD Card to store your music and extra files to. It can help save room on your phone.

2.) DO NOT use a screen protector. It really messes with the touchscreen and causes a lot of lag. If you do use one, change to a new one like continuously.

3.) Save Phone contacts to SIM card. Not the phone.

4.) Delete messages when it starts to get full and make sure you remember to delete the drafts as well then go to the trash to clear the deleted messages.

                                      5.) Turn the brightness low.

6.) Make sure the phone is updated to the latest version.

(This is all the advice I can give anyone. This phone is extremely frustrating, and I know the anger you all go through. I just hope these tips can help.)

I was so excited when I got this phone because it looks like a smartphone without having to have a data plan. However, after two days it began shutting off at random times. You cannot turn it back on without removing the battery, which is time consuming process. If the phone was not turning off, then I was getting an "oops, system error occurred. restarting." message. Once the sound also completely shut off and wouldn't turn back on until I turned off/on the phone. I was constantly terrified the phone was going to shut off and I would miss my alarm in the morning or an important phone call. I loved this phone but with the constant problems/unreliability it just wasn't worth it. I ended up switching to a more basic phone that has much better reliability. The final straw was when the phone froze on the HTC lock screen and I could not get it to do a thing. VERY disappointed and would not recommend this phone to my worst enemy!!!
