Desire is running android os.
HD2 is windows Mobile os.
so from a 3rd party software point of view they are going to be able to do different things.
phones running win mo os are made to be 100% compatible with outlook.
phones running android os are made to be 100% compatible with Google services.

I can help you hack the SPL on the phone and even give you an S/N to download 1.66 generic English ROM from the HTC UK site.
But if you don’t tell me the full number of the ROM you have on now I will not be able to post a link for you to download a backup copy of it (just encase you want to go back to your original ROM for warranty reasons) or look and see what country HTC site you have to go to, that may have the update for your Vodafone ROM. That update will install without hacking the SPL.
Eg. 1.66.405.2
1.66 is the rom version
405 is the type/region/language/provider (405 is the universal English, no provider, HTC generic ROM)
So if you are upgrading the version but staying in the same 405 you don’t need to hack.
e.g. 1.43.405.1 to 1.48.405.2 or 1.66.405.2
But if you want to upgrade and change your type/region/language/provider you will have to do a hack and get an S/N if you want the ROM from HTC. (There are other places you can get ROMs but you will still have to hack the SPL to get it on).
e.g. 1.43.407.1 to 1.48.405.2 or 1.66.405.2 (407 is a Germany, no provider, HTC generic ROM)
If you don’t ever plan on putting back a ROM intended for your SPL I don’t need to know your full ROM #just tell me what type/region/provider or none provider rom you want to hack your SPL to put on.

2. Did you install “.net cf 3.5 redistributed” which is needed for most 3rd party programs to work?
3. Did you ever do a factory reset/hard reset (the kind you do with the volume & power keys.) In order to replace drivers that may have gotten corrupted?

Have been using for almost two months now... I strongly and strongly NOT recommend the HD2. Without any reason the phone freezes (dont remember how many times I had to take the battery out or reset), cannot install any apps since most of it does not work properly ex: foursquare (there are not many available in windows marketplace anyway), had problems with camera (sometimes it does not work- dont know why?) and HTC support really bad, only advice they provide is to install "new ROM" (without asking If you have it installed already - so check your version before installing new ROM)...Verdict: waste of money! lots of frustration!

Are you looking for an upgrade to that same vodafone ROM or will any generic HTC ROM upgrade do?
And you need to know your full ROM number 1.4 something is not enough you tell you what to do.

tman, 25 May 2010thanks anthony...even if i am not sketching but just writin... moreWhen I’m creating a new file in “Notes” I go into the menu of the new file and uncheck Draw and check “View Recording toolbar” and I tap the keyboard icon.
So I use the keyboard to type text, and I make some audio recording if I have to describe something that is going to take to long to describe by typing. I gave up on trying to make any proper diagrams on this screen with my finger. I think you will have to buy the stylus for that. Only rough sketches can be done easily with my finder, no works of art. :-
)

Hello guys...do you know if there is any application which i could install in the hd2..which will help me record conversations..and with which i could playback later...i know audio notes works for most phones but it dose'nt with the hd2...thanks..
