Hi Anthony! my HD2 is made in Taiwan with on-board ROM Version: 1.43.488.1(70124)WEE, and a Radio Version: 2.04.50.22_2 and Protocol Version: 15.26.50.07U. My problem is when i tried to upgrade to ROM Version: 1.66.707.1, given my serial number, it says "this download is not suitable for your device" May i know what ROM Version should i download? I live in Saudi Arabia. Thanks in advance...

Soft reset the phone
Or
If you are seeing the default win mo screen you can Go in… start>settings>today>items>and check “HTC Sencs”>ok
Or
If it is corrupted you have to do a factory rest/hard rest.
With the phone off
Hold the volume up and down keys together.
Tap the power (keep holding the volume keys)
When you see the gray screen with the blue writing, follow the instructions there.

Syrus, 22 Apr 2010Out of curiosity, how can sim be used only for internet &am... moreOne of the providers where I am “b-mobile” has a sim that gives you unlimited data for a fixed rate every month, but that sim will not let you make or receive calls, sms or mms.
The nice thing is, for that fixed rate I can go online and never come off if I want to.
The next sim I have is from Digicel it does voice and data. You can get it post or prepaid but it will cost and arm and a leg when you use the data. That is why I blocked the WAP on that one. I still get sms and mms if I only block WAP.

I mean i have 2 phones..one has post sim & other has prepaid. Post one has data plan & pre-paid doesnot have. Just wondering if it is possible to buy data on prepaid. I always thought pre-paid card doesnot offer data plan.

That is exactly how I have my phone
One sim for unlimited data, a postpaid sim for voice, sms, mms.
The switch is done via software interface that I put a quick link on the home screen.
I also installed a program called “data controller” to block the voice sim from ever being able to use wap.

Note: not every dual sim card holder will WORK or FIT in this phone. I know this because I tried 3 defect types from 2 different sites before I got the one that works.

Syrus, 22 Apr 2010Thanks to Anthony & Chris I've not yet decided to fl... moreI’m Not 100% sure but the last radio change I did from HTCPedia that came HTC digitally signed as an upgrade for the 1.66 ROM was just like flashing the ROM over.
The phone started from scratch. It still had 1.66 but a newer radio.
The phone stared faster; the FM radio could pick up more stations with a scan indoors.
But in the end I took it back off. Can’t remember for what reason now.

As a foreigner living in two different European States I can use prepaid SIM cards only. I would like to buy the HD2 and have this configuration: Dual-SIM-card-holder with one prepaid Data card for Internet browsing with the phone and as WiFi-router for family pc use. Then, if I have to make a call switch to the 2nd card, a prepaid phone card. Missed calls I check in the mail box of the phone card provider and then switch back to Internet etc. Can someone of you please confirm, that this technically will work ? thanx

I've not yet decided to flash energy rom as current rom 1.66 is running good for me despite occasional screen getting hanged(one time a week).

As for radio version I'm aware of its effect on wifi, signal, battery life etc. But isn't it supposed to be "the latest the better".
I've not changed radio before. Just wondering....installing radio is just like installing apps or it needs hard reset, wipe out data etc?

Changes made to the radio software affects how the hardware behaves and how other software interact with that hardware. If the creator of a cooked ROM recommends a particular radio version, most likely he has a good reason for that.

I’m not using a cooked ROM and I have the same radio as you.
If you find a way to unlock the extra memory with a patch file and radio change (or anything like that), let me know. All I want now is the extra memory but still keep 1.66.
I can’t use a cooked ROM because the makers are striping out some of the HTC things that I use.

and im currently using 2.10.50.08_2. General view is that this is one of the latest and best radios to date. before this i was using 2.08.50.08_2 which worked well for me as well.
