How important is a good graphics chip in comparison to a quality dispaly board sproting 16 million colours. From what i have seen so far the quality display of the HD 2 seems to be better than the Iphone, is it the advance graphics chip and the size of teh screen, because the colours dispaly ability is on 65,000 colours

I am from Jamaica. I am planning to get a HTC HD 2 at the end of the month, i have only one concern. Most phones with a 2.8" screen are provision with a 16, million colours display. Question can screen between 2 and 5 inch display all these colours? and secondly if they cant will they be able to dispaly more than 65,000 colours specifically the HTC HD 2 wuth its 4.3" screen?

            Observation with the icon change.
If after you change an icon and reboot the icon still does not change.
You may want to use file explore to move the link you want to change out to the main part of the start menu. Try to change the icon again.
Once it works you can move the link back to the sub folder you want it in.

                        A few answers:

-Skifire does work on the HD2, but download it from their site, that is the newest version. It does have flash, so YouTube movies will work on any site. But not everything works yet. So it is good, but I am still waiting for Adobe to bring Full Flash soon. And Skyfire is pretty fast.. I use Opera more othen though.

-For free apps outside of the Marketplace check out the folling site's:

XDAdevelopers (very important if you are using the HD2 or any HTC made phone. Tweaks, apps, etc)

wvga+pda4you+org (best site for FREE games so far.. I am still a newby, have had the HD2 for only 2-3 weeks. But am learning FAST :P)

                        freewarepocketpc+net (for games, apps, etc)

I replaced the '.' for '+' because I thought I read somewhere that they will deleta your post if they see links, so to be sure.

I myself am waiting for the mobile version of Firefox browser, and then Adobe to add Full Flash. Will be great I think :) Also the Opera 10 Beta 2 is nice, but not finished yet.

For people that have not yet decided to buy or not to buy the HD2:

The first time you have that thing in your hand, you know this is one of the best things you have ever seen. After a week or two, you will start seeing WM6.5 underneath the Sense UI. It is sometimes a little bit like.. 'WTF IS WRONG WITH MICROSOFT OMFG'. But most of the time you spend in the Sense UI.

Windows Mobile is very powerfull though. You can go on the web and download all kind of things, like zip files. It is almost like your normal computer. Windows Mobile is also very open, you can tweak it a LOT. It is like 'jailbreaking' your iPhone, but this is already done on Windows Mobile. For me, and many others, that adds a lot of fun! And you can really tweak it till you are sure it is perfect for yourself.

Camera is (very) good, if I compare the picture taken with my BlackBerry I almost cry. Don't expect the best though.

Screen is very beautiful, although sometimes not so bright. You can turn of the auto-brightness off course. Build quality of the device is among the best, be aware: taking of the back cover is a very hard thing to do! (this adds to the very nice and compact/hard build quality though). The 5 hardware buttons are good, but not perfect. Also the volume buttons on the side are a little bit loos. Not much, but it is something.

YouTube, google maps, etc all included, very nice apps. Also very nice: 'MP3 cutter (make your own ringtones ON the device).

Conclusion: This device is one of the best. With a screen that big, you will probably not hear anybody say to you they have a bigger screen for a LONG time. This is really the edge, or the device will become to big. The device itself is thin, so no problem in your pants.

About the OS? At this point, I would still take this device over 99% of all smartphone's out there. Windows Mobile 6.5 is not perfect. It is not touch-optimized, so it can be hard to go trough some menu's. But that does not happen often. I am seeing the future though: Windowns Mobile 7 will 99,9% sure come to the HD2. No, it has not been announced yet, but even if it does not come the 'official' way, XDAdevelopers is your friend to find an unofficial way to get the OS on your HD2.

And I am also very intrested about running Android OS on the HD2. At this moment, Android 2.0.1 is working on the HD1 and Diamond if I am correct (again, check out XDA). Very big chance it will come to the HD2. And they are saying it is almost working perfect, except for the Camera and some other stuff. Android Market guys!!

There are also PlayStation emulators.. so you can play Classic games like Final Fantasy 7,8 and 9 on the device.

So really, it is very nice. And with WM7 (which I am very sure will be a HUGE succes, I know MicroSoft) it will get even better. Invest your money if you want one of the best phone out right now, but also will stay on top for a LONG period.

PS: Negative sides of the phone.. Camera sticks out a little, not a big problem but it's a shame. This does help the Speaker be louder, because it tilts up the phone a little. Also the phone can freeze sometimes, but that happens with every device.

I bought HTC HD2 today. It`s amazing and the battery is impressive. It`s a little had at the beggining to learn the windows mobile but after 3-4 hours it should be fine to know all the menus.I think that this is a very good Smartphone...maybe it`s more than a smartphone....a mini notebook maybe. :) God Job HTC....very well build too.

It means that developers can properly make 3rd party app for it or update there existing app to work properly with it. That is all I have to say about it.

As for the HD2 the HSPL (Hard SPL) has been made so now you can upgrade/downgrade, change language roms use cooked and go back to originals.
I was doing all this before with the SSPL but now with the HSPL the process will but like upgrading a official rom for any kind or HD2 rom I decide to use.
