Mo, 12 Jan 2010Hi Anthony, first of all thanks for the answer. Just a quic... moreIf you are going to use a gel case, I don’t see the need for the Armour every ware.. You just need to cover the screen.. That’s what the gel case will not cover. But double protection will not harm, so you can do that it you want.
Generally, the people that use the Armour plan to keep using the case the phone came with or just don’t like the look of a gel/silicone case.
And there are a few cases for this phone for sale on www.amazon.co.uk

Hi Anthony, first of all thanks for the answer. Just a quickie on choosing a phone cover...do you recomend the new case armour, the thin army grade plastic that goes on loke the p300 cover with some moisture. I would like a nice gel case as oppossed to a silicome case that doubles up as a sticky magnet for all the crap in my pocket...what would you recomend and do you have a any good case sites for the HD2?
          Many thanks as always.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2010When you use wi-fi does the battery last less time? What kind of question is that?
Does the Wi-Fi need power to run or pixie dust? Think real hard about it.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2010thank anthony but the screen protector that u said is kind ... moreThe point of having a screen protector on is not so you can hit the screen with a rock and it will not break. Because chances are it will. I don’t think HTC made this screen from built proof glass.
The purpose is so when you put it in your pocket with keys, coins metal pens… it accidentally falls on a ruff hard surface, it goes sliding across the floor. The protector will get the scratches and not the glass. With out it Glass will get very fine scratch that you will see if you watch it from the right angle not head on. (Like the video test they love to show that a phone is scratch proof.)
And when the protector is all scratched up you just take it off and put a next one on. (Not so easy to change a screen.)
Also remember this phone has a metal battery cover but the finish on it is just a coating. Which can be scratched if it comes into contact with a sharp object. I gel case would prevent that from happening and also absorb some shock that can cause damage from a fall.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2010thank anthony but the screen protector that u said is kind ... moreThe P300 was made for the HD2
It goes all the way to the edge of the screen.
It has a cut out for the keys at the bottom because it even covers the small glass area under the keys.
There are also 2 small cutouts for the sensors that are to the top left of the screen. And a indentation for the front speaker.

I have no problem using the phone with it on. I don’t even know what it feels like with it off because I bought the screen protector and the phone the same time and as soon as I took it out of the box I put the protector on. Then I powered it up.

                      Link to the P300
                      http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct.aspx?Manufacturer=HTC&Item=HTCHD2SPP300ScreenProtector(2Pcs)&Product=78B33B51-E9FE-478C-97F1-792FD4094EE7&Category=31459CCD-3D8B-4520-B0CE-03F38932C96B

the link to the video I gave showing a screen protector being put on a iphone is how I decided to put the P300 on, but I used diluted dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle, my ID card and paper towels and it did the trick.

Anthony, 12 Jan 2010lol I know it is on GMT, I wanted to know if it is on the... moreyeah meant to say its set to 'correct' GMT for my location - my mistake.

Can't be an issue with the PC cause I don't use it to sync appointments. It's alomost as if the lock screen is not updating from the calendar but the calendar on the home screen is.

I've seen the 'S2U2' and liked the look of it, just not got around to installing it yet but I'll give it a shot - I like the idea of having more than one appointment showing and having slide lock on the bottom too.

AFAIK if I flash a new ROM onto my HD2, it will void warranty with O2 but not with HTC, but seen as O2 offer little/no support for this device anyway, I won't lose sleep over it. Only had my HD2 a month or so and new to WM so I think I'll continue on for now before trying a new ROM. Got my home screen looking sweet now and lots of cool apps so ill hang on for a little longer.

One other thing u might be able to help me with:
I've created some folders within the Start Menu for the apps/programs I have installed so it is less messy when navigating thru. How do I chage the folder icons? eg the folder for Games is preinstalled with a controller as the icon - is there a way to do this for user created folders?

                        Cheers for your help

Craig/annonymous, 12 Jan 2010Anthony, thanks for the reply. yes phone clock is set... morelol
I know it is on GMT, I wanted to know if it is on the right one for where you are…
I’m located at -4GMT if my phone is set to.. lets say -6GMT when it is 1am Tuesday here my phone will think it is only 11pm Monday.
That is why I ask if your phone is set to the right GMT for where you are.

The next eg. Is if you pc is set to say +3GMT and the phone is set to -2GMT.
An entry set in outlook on the PC for 4pm Monday will show up on the phone calendar as 9pm Monday.
But if you say it is showing the right thing on the home screen then I don’t think that is the problem you are having.

I have no idea what the patch does… I installed it and my calendar looks and behave no different. I never had a problem….

By the way I think the window lock screen a lame and disabled it with the use of “BsB tweaks”
I use “S2U2” instead and I have it set to show the upcoming 6 appointments for then next 30days, the next alarm time count down, weather info and more.

O2 is still using the old rom.
The new official rom that is legally given out by HTC is 1.48
You should find out from O2 if it would be ok for you to update your rom.
I will help you with that if you want to do it.

Anthony, 12 Jan 2010Is your phone clock set in the correct time zone a.k.a GMT?... moreAnthony,

                                thanks for the reply.

yes phone clock is set to GMT. Im running O2 factory ROm (1.43.206.4)

To add an appointment I enneterd calendar from the slide bar and then in month view navigated to tomorrows date. Added appointment details and time (13:00 - 14:00) - this was done yesterday.

Now the calendar on the home screen shows the appointment correctly, but only on the lock screen does it say tomorrow still.

I have not installed the update no - I've not previously experienced this problem it just started today. Tried a soft reset but still no luck I'm afraid.

What does the HTC calendar update change?

If you sync to outlook is your PC set to the same zone a.k.a GMT as the phone?
The calendar takes this into consideration for international travelers.

Did you install the calendar update from HTC? (your rom may have a bug that it fixed maybe)

Post the detail steps you do to put an entry on the calendar and I’ll see what you are doing that can also give that result.

Anthony, 12 Jan 2010Hi Anthony, Once again a solution is expected from your ... more3. Connect the phone to your PC in sync mode (not disk drive mode)
Open “my computer” you will see the phone in there.
Do your multi-selections, cut, copy, paste from the browser on your PC.

                                    2. You will get that message for two reasons.

2a.You have the installation files on the memory card but when you did the installation (the default place it installs to is phone memory) unless when the option comes up during the installation you must deliberately pick the memory card from the options. If you did not do that it would have been installed on phone memory.

2b. you did not go into the “Options” of email, word, excel, footprints, messenger and any other 3rd party app you may have installed that save files, and tell it to save to the memory card by default and not the phone memory. So every time you saved something it went the internal memory.

Note: email attachments are kept on internal memory unless you change it in the email settings. Voice clips and files sent/received in “messenger” are kept in internal memory till you move it over to the memory card or delete them (the same goes for mms.)

                                    1. The best way I can tell you to get back original software is to do a factory reset.

                                        Hi Anthony,

Once again a solution is expected from your side. Somehow something goes wrong on my HD2 , i remember you . Thanking you in anticipation.

                                        1) I didn't liked the preinstalled Youtube application in HD2 and therefore installed a third party youtube application and somehow didn't liked that. i went to the managed application and deleted the installed software. Now it seems that the original youtube application has disappeared and also the third party one. How to get the original YOUTUBE application which came with HD2?

2)Also after installing lot third party application in the storage card , the devise say that you are running low on storage capacity and therefore delete some applications. why is it so ?

                                        3) Also tried to cut and paste some files from phone memory to storage card. The problem i m facing is that how can i select some files out of the entire list. The edit options say select all otherwise i have select files individually and then move to the storage card.
