Mark (music player t, 27 Dec 2009I've removed Gyrator2, shut down & restarted the phone but ... moremake life easy and un-install everything and check to see if the music still crashing. then add back programs one at a time. playing the music after each install. hopefully you will find the problem program.
but if it crashing with nothing installed and I were you... I would be so fedup I would just say to hell with the O2 rom and just update to the htc rom.

Else u can inform u... moremy phone auto charges every time I hook it to my work or home pc in sync mode. but when I want to drain the battery it can last 2 days.
only when I do that full drain do I ever use the wall charger.

Phone needs a recharge now (been 36hrs since last charge, which is nice after using it quite a bit over xmas) so I will try other apps later and see if i can identify and eliminate the problem...

That is why i said to put on and play the music before you installed anything.
And if it not crashing then put on the other software, one at a time and test them for 1hour or 2 before you install a next one till you find the culprit.
Gyrator2 was known to be problematic even when i was using it on my HD running the Leo rom, that is why i told you stop using it but you keep putting it back on.
Stop man stop! lol
Give ChangeScreen a try.
But before you do that, remove all the programs you installed and play the music for some time and see if it still crashes or not. So once and for all you can know if it could be a problem with the music/player/rom

and if it is not THEN put on 3rd party software 1 at a time, play with them for about 2hours before you install a next one till you find the culprit.
Gyrator2 has been know to be problematic even when I had my HD running the leo rom.
don't use it. i keep telling you that and you keep putting it on.

Do you think one or more of these might be to blame - or should I try and alter the file structure and separate the MP3 into folders under Artist/Album/track(s)?

Soz to say I followed yr advice and added my MP3s via ActiveSync in batches of no more than 7 or 8 at a time. It was fine up until I had around 45 tracks on there in my music folder, but then it crashed. However, after removing the last batch of several MP3s the player still kept crashing.
Do you or any other HD2 owners reading this have any advice to help sort this? (before anyone asks, the MP3s are all correctly tagged 128mbps files with album art and no symbols in their file names)

On the task bar of this phone next to the battery icon (when you are on your home page) you have a HTC Task manager & and the Task manager I told you to install as well?
I ask this because I only have one.
That’s the 3 horizontal lines with the down arrow. When you tap that you see your running task.
That is the program i asked you to install.
