There is also an album art icon on the top lef... moreHi Anthony, re my question about preventing my dozens of MP3 ringtones from being added to the music player - would this work if I had them saved on the memory card as WAV (or maybe AAC) files? (This idea sprang to mind after reading your comments regarding text and alarm tones)

Anthony, 05 Dec 2009ok it is one of two things .wav format (there is more than ... moreNo. the files didn’t play when tapped. They appear to be too large – over 5MB – compared with the system ones around 150Kb.
I used AVS Audio Converter. Just made another one in AVS with a setting for mobile. They are 500Kb files. Put them on the card and after tapping on it, it played. Assigned to alarm it did work but the previously assigned sound could also be heard. Put the files within windows and hey presto. It all worked with receiving text and alarm,
The wife is a happy bunny now with her reminder.
Many thanks for your advice. I’m sure there will be more questions later.

let's start with format.
what program did you use for the mp3 to wav conversions?
when you tap the files in the phone "file explorer" dose it play or do you get the same problem?
an old but good ripper/converter is "CDex"

tip... don't install drivers, or programs that start with the phone on a card because if the card is not in or you have it in "drive mode" you could run into problems

I asked who you were telling the screen is no good? not how long you use it. are you talking to the people that already own and like the phone? or the people like your self that already know they not going to buy this phone no matter what any one says?

To those who have iPhones, 5800's etc, and are happy with them - good for you. But if you have nothing good or useful to say, please read and adhere to the posting rules!!

Anthony, 05 Dec 2009You are on the right track for the sound being in the windo... moreThank you Anthony. Converted mp3 to wav, put it on the card and windows folder, managed find it to add it to text and alarm but it would not play. All others would play when you tap them except new ones.
I can only assume that it’s the size or the type of file that is the problem. Unfortunately I can’t extract a working one to see how they were made such a small size.

g0tch, 05 Dec 2009First, I would like to thank Anthony and others for their v... moreYou are on the right track for the sound being in the windows folder. But what you were doing wrong is it has to be “.wav” not “.mp3” :) only ring tones use .mp3, .wav or .wma
Go have fun with it now.
Note.. The files don’t have to be in the windows folder, you can put it in the root of the memory card.
Only the alarm clock sound you want needs to be in the windows folder.
One more thing... for caller ID to work right out of the box your #’s have to be saved like this +# ### ###-#### not like ###-####
