We should buy a p... moreTo best answer to your update question is... The diamond 2 and pro 2 came out with wm 6.1 and if you did not buy it from a carrier but it was a Europe or UK model, you just have to go to www.htc.com set the country to Europe or United Kingdom at the top of the page.
Click on Support.
Find the Diamond 2 or the Pro 2 from the drop down.
And right there you will see the free wm 6.5 ROM upgrade for people that did not buy from a carrier.
So it should be the same for the HD2 when wm7 comes out.
Even the HD (HD1) got a rom upgrade for the Europe and UK version. (Was not wm6.5 upgrade but still an upgrade.)
Note: every one that has the HD (HD1) and wanted to upgrade to wm6.5 got the upgrade on www.htcpedia.com
So if you not buying from a Carrier it would be best to buy one that came out of the U.K. for 2 reasons
1.You know it will be English if you need an English version.
2.Rom updates straight from HTC looks at the model # of the phone in order to let you download the update so if you don’t have a UK or Europe model # you will not get to download from them.
If you can’t download it from them then you will have to depend on XDA or htcpedia for the update.

What UI do you think is better, the Sense or Spb Shell. I like the Shell and the Sense. Tried to get both to run on the HD2. They run for awhile but then when you reset the device (because a shortcut stop running) it boots up with the Spb Shell and you cannot go back to Sense UI. Spb takes over.
Does anyone know how to get both to run????? I like the Sense as my main UI, but I was clicking on the Spb Shell shortcut to get to Spb Shell (5 pages of shortcut links, games, etc.)........

We should buy a p... moreYou can update buy going to XDA site and load there custom ROM's on your phone. I paid $750 + s/h from a site that had all good feedback... You have to know where you BUY from today.
I'm not hee to promote HTC. I researched the different phones that was coming out and bought what I thought I wanted in a phone, and it was the HD2. I was going to get the X2, but when I saw the Spec's I went for the HD2. It gives me a better chance for WM7 update..... Before the HD2 I did purchase the Omnia 2, before I saw the HD2. I like both phones. The Omnia 2 has some features that the HD2 doesn't have and vise versa.
It's just what phone you need. If you BUY the phone you need, you cannot go wrong, because it's what you need....................

We should buy a phone that fits OUR needs.
but a question, lets say WinMo7 came out at this moment (say its 2010) and YOU have a HTC HD2, that u bought months ago, how would you update your phone to WinMo7? through HTC site? wat if YOU bought it like from overseas (aka not from my carrier) would you be still be able for an update?
and also high tech, i asked earlier to but one reason i am considering N900 over HTC HD2 is the face it can handwrite, i know Windows to totally customizable, but is there a way this device can help me in my lectures? or help me study?
btw how much did u buy this phone for?
This might be a lot =) but i need some supportive advice.

Medhat, 15 Nov 2009some guys used the phone already are saying that the phone ... moreI never owned the HD (Ask Anthony about that). All I can say "is this phone is great". I've had not problems with the speaker or talking on it......I bought the phone because of the ability to update to WM7 when it comes out next year. Even if HTC want give official update, devolpers like XDA will have update ROM. In looking at past HTC phones, they provide lots of ROM updates. So that will keep my phone fresh in years to come..........
I love the phone. Some people say it's too big or this or that. For me, it works..........
Viewing in th sun or light is good, no problems for me.......
Battery is okay. I mean if you need more juice, just buy a second battery. I always do that for my phones to keep them powered. That's a small thing to do. What the extra battery cost $40-50. I'm sure there will be an extended battery for heavy users.........
YOU cannot go wrong with this phone. The phone looks great. Everyone who saw it said it's way better than the iPhone, and you can customize it the way you want. I've added new wallpaper that I've downloaded (1280x1024 & 1920x1200), and they look GREAT!!!!!
I mean, it just depends on what your needs are, and what you want?????? For this was a great BUY........

This is a great phone ... BUT it's got some issues and I'm considering selling the one I've had for just a couple of days. Its good points are the fantastic screen size and the many, many fab features but it has a few bugs. It seems HTC always fixes the bugs in one model (and the Touch HD had a few very annoyign ones) only for new ones to turn up in another one. What are they? It oftens hangs when it's trying to download weather info and when I was playing around trying to choose ringtones yesterday it went mad and wouldn't stop vibrating until I took the battery out! What else is a problem? You can't turn off the annoying beeps when you type onto the phone keypad; the snooze option in the calendar only has a five-minute window (ie, you can't defer a reminder for 10 miutes, 20 minutes, half a day etc as previously); ditto the snooze option in the alarm clock. But the most problematic issue is that capacative touch screen. HTC's previous resistive touch screens were very sensitive but this new one is so sensitive it's a real pain! Typing quikcly is almost impossible because of the likelihood of accidentally touching the wrong keys. It's SO annoying but because it's such a fundamental feature of the phone, it's something I can't ignore like the other issues can be ignored. Maybe I'll just have to wait another year until the HD3 comes out!

I've been using the HD2 for a few days now, and it's been wonderful. The phone is very fluid and fast. This has been a good investment for me. After thinking about it, this phone does everything I need a phone to do. I said in other post that, I'll upgrade to another phone in 2-3 years. After using this phone, I see no need to upgrade. I've been buying phones every year for the last 5 yrs. That stopped with the HD2 (all I need), and you get alot of support with flash ROM's, updates, etc from developers. That's why I choose HTC over other phones.
This is a must buy if you're looking for a wonderful phone...............................................
