Acry, 02 Nov 2009Hey, Is the SAT NAV Software come with this or do you have... moreSAT NAV Software comes with it but which one I don’t know. So you may still end up buying Garmin/TomTom.
When I get mine in my hand I will let you all know which it is.
What I know of this phone software is from using a test version of it on my HTC TOUCH HD.
Liked it so much I sold my HD to get the money to buy the HD2 because the HD just did not have the CPU to push the HD2 interface fast.

Chris, 02 Nov 2009Dear Anthony, Firstly I must say that I think you are pe... moreIf you are a windows PC user and already use Microsoft Outlook, travel a lot to different time zones and have appointments to keep when you get there, may it be by phone or in person... This is the better phone to get between the 2 phones.
        Let me tell you why.

        1. The phone sync perfectly with your Outlook account and will upload/download your calendar, email, task, notes, this will make shore your PC and your phone are always on the same page.
This is useful if you have an assistant that updates your appointments on you office PC with outlook and you may put in an appointment or 2 when you are on the road. When you next sync both the PC and the phone will have the same info.

1a. if your assistant needs to update you contacts, calendar, task and more, right away and you are not at the office. It can be done over the web with the use of “Microsoft My Phone” web page.
Here is the link.. There is a video there as well so you can see what it can do.
        http://myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po?lc=11273&mkt=en-US

        2. It also has the world clock that can show more than on city time in a list format. (useful when doing business across time zones)

        3. When travelling from one time zone to the next and you change the main clock to your new time zone. The time change is auto updated to your appointments in the calendar so they will have the time based on where you are but in sync with the time zone for where the appointment is for.
        4. A copy of the email from Outlook e-mail , h o t m a i l, g m a i l, m s n and l i v e accounts are kept on the phone. So you don’t have to be online to read email you already downloaded.

5.Word and excel files can be edited on the phone. (has support for the latest Microsoft office file format) PowerPoint and PDF files can be viewed.

6.Large files can be “zip” on the phone to make them smaller for emailing. Zip files emailed to you can be unzipped on the phone.

7.If you use “msn messenger” it is built into the phone and it supports the voice clip function in both directions. Other messenger apps can be installed after eg. skype, ICQ and so on.)

8.With the use of the “footprints” program that comes with the phone, written notes, clickable phone numbers, web address, mailing address and voice notes can be added to Geo tagged pictures

9.Notes taken in a call will be auto headed up with the caller ID, date and time.

10.Other than going into the email and the sms interface to get email and sms. (This could take long to find that one email or sms if you have over 500 of them on your phone.) You can also go into contacts list, find the contact and you will see all your sms, email, call log interaction with that person right there.(you can even reply from there as well) You can even see there facebook updates from there.

11.The call log does not stop at 30days it is unlimited. this is good if you have to bill clients for outgoing or even incoming calls. (As I said before call logs can be filtered by contact as well.)

        12. the phone can be put into a flash drive mode which will let you hook it to any computer (not just PC) with a USB port and access the miniSD card like a flash drive (no 3rd party software needed like Itunes, OVI, Windows Mobile Device Center)

There are more reasons to get this phone over the N900 but I think these are the ones you want to know about.

              Hi All,

I work alongside the I.T department in a large international company, I am in Australia. We deal with tech toys and computors (PC) all day every day. We are seeing the real day to day challenges with the company contract phones which include HTC, iphone and other popular makes.

Just some feedback regarding HTC interfaces/menus, despite great design, technology and overall build quality, it would appear most of the HTC phones have a slightly "awkward" menu with access to simple things like contacts and other core functions a few more clicks away than you'd prefer. Also emails are often displayed in less than professional format.

Another comparison, is the quality and responsiveness of the HTC touch screen to date has lacked compared to the iphone.

BUT, All in all, if you want a touch phone, HTC make the best device for professional office compatability.

iphones are evolving into good devices too, but when you weigh up the apps against professional uses they are far from ideal if you need serious synchronisation with the VERY established typical microsoft platforms over laptops and desktops found in corporations around the world.

Something else I read about a lot here is ppl commenting on speed and a phones performance online. It should be well noted and considered that often this will have much more to do with the service provider, here in Australia we have great differences in network coverage and performance and variables such as time of day or location can change a phones online performance, this can be said for many countries around the world that share the same network technology.

I am not bias for one or the other, BUT if you are an exectutive and need on the file/media/email compatability with microsoft or if you simply don't want the restrictive media properties of the "i" devices, you should seriously consider HTC.

              Good Luck

Anthony, 02 Nov 2009WinMo and Android There are too many differences to list. ... moreDear Anthony,

Firstly I must say that I think you are perhaps the most sensible user of this site and I support your responses to NICK.

I have recently started to consider this phone after NOKIA announced yet another delay to the release of the N900.

As you seem to be so knowledgable about phones, please give me your opinion of which of these 2 is the better.

I am a professional who travels extensively and theerefore need a reliable hand held computer. I have little or no knowledge about programing etc.

Luka, 02 Nov 2009Can anyone tell me what is the diferent between WinMo and A... moreWinMo and Android
There are too many differences to list.
I will just give the main ones.

                      1. windows mobile OS was made by Microsoft to be a version of windows for small portable devices (cell phones being just one of them).
Android OS was made by Google and it is a version of Unix for cell phones.

2.Winmo is made to be 100% compatible with Microsoft products (no conversion needed)
                      Android is made to be 100% compatible with Google products (no conversion needed) {THIS DOES NOT MEAN that they don’t both understand other file format or support some of each other’s products}

                      3.Android is open source.
winmo is hacked/mode so openly online that people think it is open source :-)

                      4.Android OS support 16m colours
                      Winmo OS support 65k colours

Hope this was of some help...
