Wallpaper on lock screen? Reminds me of limo as on samsung m1 on vodafone. It states that no bluetooth support but quotes hardware capable. With no memory card slot or capability for mass storage support how do you put files of larger size on this phone? Is it locked to microsoft servers? Is this an Iphone style locked to supplier?

How odd when you think about it that the company that made as it's almost trademark a wallpaper based gui goes for a tiled interface. Android stole it's thunder I feel. Symbian is a dead duck.

HTC make great phones and Windows 7 mobile does look a very good OS (especially compared to previous Microsoft mobile OS's) but reviews i have read is that it is still a bit buggy and not as feature rich as it's 2 main OS competitors (Android and IOS). Personally if you are looking at getting a new phone i would say look no further than the HTC desire as it ships with Android 2.2 OS (which me being a techy think is the best OS by far) and is as feature rich hardware wise as any other on the market. HTC Desire HD is very nice but it has TFT screen as opposed to the very crisp AMOLED on a standard Desire

Engineer Man, 03 Nov 2010I can't see Microsoft eating up Nokia's symbian that easily... moreEverything you say about symbian is theory, when it comes to real world application Symbian is the worst OS I have used to date. Owned the N97, while they claim the processor and RAM was enough it was clear that it was needing a bit more power. Then comes the N8 CPU plus GPU one would think that it should be more than enough but when it comes to it there's an awful lot of people making similar complaints as that of the N97, which tells me that the same story continues.
Obviously the story will be different if you look at it from an enthusiasts point of view one who regularly contributes to forums such as this one and keeps up with the mobile phone technologies and developments but you gotta remember that the majority of users out there don't understand all the things you are talking about. The most complicated thing a lot of them do when they buy a smartphone is go through the setup wizard, so it is important for these mobile manufacturers understand this point. Symbian is not idiot proof "fact". hence Symbian is suffering big time at the high end level. lowerend is where Nokia excel coz you practically just inset you sim card two to three clicks later you good to go.

Marco, 03 Nov 2010"can u tell me why hd7 is better than nokia c7?" ... moreI can't see Microsoft eating up Nokia's symbian that easily. The picture might look good, but what's included, what can it do on gthe inside. How much support does it have?

It will be difficult against IBM, INNTEL, Nokia & the best Linux devs Meego when it's released like Meamo was an amazing OS with potential. Nokia to this day have sold more symbian based devices than any Android, Apple put together.

Linux is the way to go. Everyone will see this with advanced features years ahead of Microsoft, Android, IOS. IOS is so closed to dsay it's a debian, Unix based predecessor.

Don't forget Nokia are very favouritive appealing & inexpensive option for most people. Symbian has more support & covers or caters for most technologies which is through customization, capabilities for most basic of general purpose functionalty.

As such Symbian as a platform is more mature * more optimized & accomplished than any other WebOS so far. Symbian has been transformed into a Full Mobile OS with the inclusion of a new Kernel with new instructions, a First Hardware Abstraction Layer.

Symbian may not look nice, but you don't judge a book by it's cover. You judge a book by how good the information is in it. How good the story is. Likewise Symbian is to be commended for it's accomplishments, capabilities, amount of things it can do which have been around long before WebOS's, Android IOS or others.

At the end of the day Linux will be the most secure, stable, advanced platform that wil be made into a nice package with the most open source material so easy to port anything to it. Cooperations & devs, communities will take advantage of the many advantages of support with & without throwing money at it.

Microsoft are trying to WOW people with the GPU based User Interface with great Multi touch based gesture & animations. But this doesn't mean it's as rounded & complete as Symbian.

Well my opinion is this. This User Interface isn't going to suit everyone, but I guesse it will suit some people. It will probably suit people who are not technical but want something very simple & easy & quick to access almost everything on the phone.

For me I'm not interested in a scrolling or cascading tiled homescreen. I just like seeing a traditional wallpaper homescreen with shortcuts, widgets, etc.. to my programs. I can see it being very appealing to many people.

Bigger/higher res screen, more RAM, more storage, better CPU, much better OS, better user experience. Windows phone is only going to be better and Symbian is more obsolete each day.
That's why it is better, there are some things why it is worse, camera on nokia has more megapixels but there is ceirtanly more positive for HD7.

"is hd7 is better than all other htc phone?"
I can't say right now, probably not, but it isn't the most expensive phone from HTC. I think it is the best HTC Windows phone device and has the most potential of all HTC phones right now.

And yes, one more concern that I have personally is the support of Arabic language on WP7. I mean Windows Mobile has been around for so many years, so many years, and up to now, Microsoft is not supporting Arabic on the OS natively. All other Arabizer software that you can get from PocketGear.com and other websites are poor. The support is bad the the maxmimum levels. I hope that Microsoft, like Apple, the best brand in the entire world, will support Arabic natively on WP7, eliminating the need for manufacturers such as HTC, and other software developers for creating useless codes to support Arabic. We want Arabic in the OS itself, and ALSO integrated with the default keyboard, not a seperate keyboard for Arabic, and another for English.

From my experience with the HD2, HTC builds high quality devices. Even the battery life is decent for a 4.3inch-display device. my phone can go for a day and a half on full charge with moderate to heavy usage. This phone, HD7, is going to be no difference. The only concern about this phone is really swapping the memory cards and the hard-reset required for that. Other thatn this, the other concerns are related to the OS itself, such as copy and past etc. I am sure Microsoft, as a leading software company, and one of the best in the world, is going to relase an upgrade to all users that will enable many features not available yet in WP7, and by then, WP7 and the HTC HD7 will become perfect match for software, hardware and price. So, I think its worth the money, and do not worry, Microsoft is hearing our needs. They will upgrade the OS very soon.

I been with T-mobile for 8 years. I have 4 months left on my contract. I just watched like 20vids on youtube on how you can customize your phone, make it your own bla, bla ,bla. BUT, not one of the vids showed me how to customize your desk top! how to take the icons of the screen and place your own picture as your background WITH OUT cropping. If you buy a laptop and you hate clutter ! you should be able to remove things and, just open files when you are ready to view them.i should be able to do it with a phone 2. Can any body tell me anything about the wall paper settings? I want to see a picture of my new 6month old baby on my screen , not just the feet or the head! The only phone I know that works with out cropping is the iphone4. Thanks
