Anonymous, 29 Oct 2009The Hero no having camera flash is due to the Android OS 1.... moreHTC in the mean time is busy doing upgrade for Hero to Android v2.0 eclair as you can seelatest news.
And for the flash support is not really too important, given that HTC will improve the overall picture and video (flash) performance with the update.

The Hero no having camera flash is due to the Android OS 1.5 lack of support. With the new Android OS 2.0, smart-phones running android can now implement camera flash into newly developed devices. So if there should be a Hero 2, i am certain it will have flash support, better blue-tooth support, etc. For more details, google the new android 2.0 online.
HTC did a good job developing this phone despite the little short coming of the OS, it remains one of the best android 1.5 phones to date.

For a phone that claim to be the first flash supported android device, they really need to improve the pos HTC flash player that seem to only capable of playing ads! Flash movie play like slide show on this device. I don't understand why is it so difficult to implement a full flash support browser. Even my old HTC touch cruise can play flash flawlessly with skyfire browser.

I was impressed by this handset, but not enough to give up my 20-month old Nokia N82 (!) given that the Hero has no LED or Xenon flash, TV-out, DivX capability.
It seems HTC only want to match, rather than surpass, the iPhone - which is a real shame. As such I guess I'll just wait for the N900!

Potential_Buyer, 28 Oct 2009Okay...I've been reading and asking a lot of questions ever... moreHi,
My wife has the BL40 and at 1st loved it. However, she is now on her 3rd handset. 1st one started to freeze and or switched itself off whenever you looked at the galary. The 2nd one kept saying to many applications open even though there were none. This stopped her calling, sending and receiving messages and just using the phone.
Ive got a Hero and would recommend it over the BL40 anytime. However, the BL40 might just be a bad batch!!
Hope that helps!

Tharrinne, 29 Oct 2009I hope Android provides for numerous brands of phones. The... moreThey haven't locked it to one brand. Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola will all be launching Android phones soon. HTC were the only ones willing to take the plunge to begin with. The others have jumped on the bandwagon, which can only be a good thing as the apps will increase at a pace
Not sure about Nokia, Symbian seems to be their thing

jack, 26 Oct 2009Is there anybody else that agree with the other brand that ... moreI hope Android provides for numerous brands of phones. The whole point of Android is to be open. Why would it lock itself into a single brand? Or even worst, into a single model of phone.
I personally can't wait to see what Nokia or Sony Ericsson could bring to the actual device. This way more people would buy more Androids, allowing every aspects of the OS to be used by numerous different types of people.

I want to ask, what is UI??? sense ui?? For wha... moreUI= User Interface. Basically, the menus and layout etc. To be honest i havent really seen the others, but the Sense UI on the Hero is brilliant. The lag issue (which I thought was exagerrated somewhat) has been fixed with the rom update.
I've had the Hero since early August and I wouldn't swap it for anything

I have the Sprint version and from what i heard this phone is plagued with the same problems. Do ur research before considering this phone. Could possibly have bluetooth connectivity problems... a huge memory leak caused by the default sms program that runs ur battery down in about 8 hrs. This phone runs the same version of Android as the Sprint version so beware... check android forums before u buy.
