dear u have to download rom manager its available in market after that u can dowload 2.2 or 2.3 rom i'm also using 2.2 rom onn my htc hero

I have had the HTC Hero with Google for nearly two years and I have had good experience as well as bad. I would say that it is a good starter phone for a first cell or a transition to a smart phone in general. I came from an original version of the Blackberry Pearl so I initially thought that the Hero was going at astronomical speeds and it blew my mind. After a few months I realized that it lagged behind the other smart phones out there in speed and especially built in memory. It still got the job done but for the most part is better as an internet phone than to make actual calls since it has a 30 to 40 second delay dialing a number when it has been working for a while. It is also better on a one year contract than a two year as about 8 months in it started force closing on every program including the main program that brings up the menu and options, using the back doors to access your programs is not a fun way to go. In the last couple of weeks I have had three factory resets on it.
In conclusion, this would be a good starter phone or transition phone for a year, but no longer since the problems get really bad after a while in reliability and speed.

i don't know but i love this phone.. not to big little slow but if you think its long time ago :) and i love that 15 angle hack.. and i'm not good at english i know n.n

Fairy, 14 Dec 2011Can some plz tell me should i buy HTC Hero or notIt's a good phone, but I just gave one away because my service provider sent me a better handset for free, so I'd only suggest it if you can't get a good deal on anything else. If you get it, I suggest rooting it with z4root from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953 (don't forget to install superuser from the market) then install ClockworkMod Recovery(ROM Manager from the Market can install it for you) and flash CyanogenMod 7.1 to clobber the Orwellian tracking software(Carrier IQ, etc.) that HTC and service providers put into it. That will void your warranty, but it's generally worth the risk once you decide you like the hardware, because these phones come with scarey tracking software.

i have my hero for like months now and im having a hard time moving my applications in the sd card. is it possible to move application to my sd card? coz my phone memory is getting low. and i cant receive msgs if the memory is full. all application i downloaded via android market is automatically stored in the PHONE MEMORY. since my phone memory is getting low, is it possible to move application to my sd card?? need answers pls.

Had mine for 2 years and am now thinking of a replacement, but with what? I like the slightly quirky look of this phone, build quality is spot on and I'm finding it hard to imagine owning anything else, Samsung and Sonys look cheap and plastic, current HTC's look boring,Nokias too, and Apple,well that's a bit like joining a club and having to follow their rules, and truth be told the club isn't even very exclusive (those little glass blocks with their slightly smug owners are everywhere)Now up pops the new Razr, very reasonable spec, well built, odd looking, a new take on the UI, could be the one for me

I just received my phone and I am very disappointed I didn't look more before getting it. Pictures are very important to me since I don't like to lug around a camera. This phone does not have a flash for pictures. You also can not adust the brightness or properties after the picture is taken. I played with the camera enough to know that the picture you want to take is not the picture taken. There is a HUGE lag after you take your shot. I am hoping I can return and exchange it already.

I have not seen it from front but what I can see from its picture, it seems me that it would be little uncomfortable to carry it on due to its design(little bent in the lower part)
Have any body felt this, I mean putting it into your jeans pocket while walking etc.?

Bought today and its amazing phone im not a heavy user with high needs so this is perfect i text alot and phone and maybe a bit of Facebook and email now and again that's all i need it for. rooted with android 2.3.7 installed and its pretty quick :D much better than stock only problem is battery life but im going to buy an extended battery in the next week or so and post another reply on here to see if the battery does any better than stock :D all in all 9/10 onlt because of its age bought it cheap so im happy :D
