t-dome, 13 Apr 2010If you have any questions or doubts about the HTC Legend, j... moreHow well does this phone perform compared to the best htc android phones out there (Nexus One, Desire, and Hero). I think I'll buy one of this 4 phones. I thought nexus one isn't worth it because desire is better. but then, looking at Legend, i think this phone have decent features and cheaper price than Desire. any opinion?

ojakov, 13 Apr 2010Thanks for doing it, t-dome.. You mentioned that wireless ... moreOnly signal reception is poor. If there are 2 concrete walls between you and the router, then sometimes the signal drops completely; but that depends also on the router; mine is very badly placed in a corner, but my laptop has no signal problems.

You mentioned that wireless is con. Can you describe it little bit better?
Is it like - it won't work on the first floor if wireless router is on the second?
Or - it doesn't see free wireless network from across the street?

If you have any questions or doubts about the HTC Legend, just post them and I'd be happy to answer them (and no, I'm no affiliate with HTC or Samsung).

Hey Greven,
how good is the clarity under sunlight?"
It's not as bad as on all the windows mobile phones, but it is almost acceptable :) . I've only tried the "automatic illumination" mode, based on the light sensor.

brad, 11 Apr 2010is it easy to type with legend?can anyone help me please? tnx ;)Very easy. You can have a QWERTY keyboard or a Phone keyboard with bigger "buttons".
Don't worry, all keyboards are exceptionally good; and you can calibrate them based on your typing.

on any home screen, press "Menu -> Settings -> Connect to my PC" and tick "Always ask".
Then remove the USB cable and plug it in again.
Now the phone asks you what to do, and select "Disk Drive".

I got the Legend for about 400 euros.
The battery lasts for about 3 days, but when you use the phone intensely you have to recharge it every 36 hours. I expect to get better battery life in the future after a few firmware updates.
I'm disappointed in the GPS accuracy. Google Maps has an error rate of about 60 meters; iGo is even worse, it seems to beeing unable to use the GPS hardware but relying on the GSM coordinates, which are very inaccurate.
I have not much more to tell, being used to SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 on a Samsung Omnia i900.
Bottom line: The Legend is very good but I'm a little disappointed; I expected much more but my last phone, the Omnia, was almost as good.
Pros:
-nice video recordings
-good respponse
-nice display
-the loudspeaker is very good
-no limitations like with the iPhone
-the Android Market place is an easy way to install software
-the built-in internet browser is very good
Cons:
-the photo quality is not as good as the Omnia's
-very bad WiFi signal strength
-GPS accuracy
-an application is not closed when you exit from them; instead they reside in memory and you have to use a Task Manager to manually end them
-sometimes I miss my Samsung Omnia :)
