Anonymous, 09 Apr 2010Legend? Desire? Should I wait for desire for extra CPU pow... moreGo with the Desire! The legend is nice as hell! Smooth and well built, however editing a writen sms is a nightmare!! If you want to klick on a word it's almost impossible to get the pointer to the right position. The disiire has a zooming function for that like the iphone, so if you like texting, by the Desire!

Sorry to post this here but I can't think of anywhere else where so many people seem to know about the Legend.
I'm mightily impressed by the phone generally but can't find the media player anywahere. Also when it plays WMV's (from email for example) all I get is the audio and no visual. It wont even recognise AVI's in email as playable formats! Can anyone please help? Much appreciated.

Legend? Desire? Should I wait for desire for extra CPU power or go with superior build materials of legend.

Moderate data and apps user so probably won't need extra power of the desire but what else should I consider?

                Help please!

The specs on gsmarena says: Java Via third party application. Does this mean that i can use some of my old java applikations that i used on my SE W715/Nokia N85/Samsung Jet for example RadManiac, OpenToday, Stepcounter, Waterlevel, some Games etc or is this Java another one?

Received my Legend today, expecting a replacement tomorrow!Neither Bluetooth or internet file transfer would work (Bluetooth paired but would not connect, file transfers via internet just failed) apart from that my first impressions were positive as this is my first experience of a touch screen phone. It feels solid and well put together, it has good weight and isn't too large to be pocket friendly. The screen is clear and vibrant, The software with Sense UI is still a little confusing to a new-comer to touch screen technology and moving between the Legend, N95, laptop & PC surely didn't help! One severe disappointment was that the Legend does not have the function to announce caller identity as my N95 8Gb does, an ability that I have come to rely on when both my hands are full when the phone rings and I have to decide whether to drop everything to answer the phone or just ignore it! I hadn't realized how dependant I had become on that synthesized voice and this may become a deal-breaker. When I get a fully functioning model I will add to my initial thoughts.

I got my htc legend from vodafone today. It feels really nice in the hand and has a good solid weight to it. The aluminium and rubbery plastic make it feel luxurious.
It is a bit annoying that you have to wait for it to charge before you first turn it on but the wait is SO worth it. This phone is the best I have ever had. 10/10!

It was me that wrote the mini-review. Just wanted to say... sorry for the Bad English, I'm not an native english speaker but I normally don't write with so many mistakes, problem was I was "on the Run".

I would totally advise people interested in buying a Smartphone to buy the HTC Legend, specially if you value "Pocket Size", Design, Expandability and Performance. The Android platform is better after each day. Lot's of nice free programs and games available to the Android Platform.

The Google Services Integrations are awesome. I use Gmail so for me that is a Plus. But you can also configure other PoP e-Mail accounts or Exchange. The Mobile can sync with your computer (Outlook) if you install HTC Sync!.

Regarding the Battery, once again, today I'm charging my device again, it's the 3rd charge, it Lasted me for 1day and 5 hours and I had 60% still. I didn't use it much, played some games, listened to Some Radio, some mp3, 3 Phone calls, a couple of SMS, some File Transfering and 4 Hours of Wi-Fi. Again for a "normal" use the battery is very very decent. If you spend all day long with Syncying, wi-fi and GPS connected, writing Tweets, you can't except to last this long. Shutting down automatic Sync of Services like FriendFeed, Twitter, Gmail, etc does help a lot on the battery duration.

If you're a Twitter addict, Facebook, etc, the Social Networks are flawlessly integrated in the HTC Sense UI, specially Twitter, the client is one of the best I've seen.

The Camera is decent, you won't throw away your compact Camera, but it's a surprise the inclusing of Flash, Auto-Focus that works decently enough. Under Bright Conditions the Detail is good for a Phone, I guess...

Another thing, the Radio uses RDS, I've seen some reviews saying otherwise, but trust me, it has RDS and Works very good, scanning for Stations and making a List with all the RDS Names so it's easier to change from Station to Station.

                                    Hope that helps you.

I was wondering if I should get the Desire or the Legend... and I'm facing the same decisions... the Legend is more pocketable and the build quality feels (and probably is) better.

And you didn't even made the mistake about the memory effect on Li Ion batteries! Thanks again! ;-)
