Like the other Guy said OS is laggy BUT if you root it and flash the cyanogen rom its smooth as hell and u can clock it 500+ MHz once rooted thus u can juice out performance better than iPhone 3g.

The size and design are good. The OS is a bit laggy sometimes, I guess Andriod is not mature enough yet.
The battery is horrible. The ring tone sound is low. The touch screen is ok, but it's bad at the corners. That's all I have in mind now.

vjim, 01 Feb 2010Do you run the htc hero android on your magic? How do you d... moreYeah, it's really not that uncommon or hard to do.
Google XDA-Developers
From there, visit their forum and find the Magic Android Development subforum.
There will be many tutorials and instructions as to how to mod your phone.
In all honesty, it is REALLY complicated the first time around, but once you do it once, you'll understand how to do it for any other phone. Just make sure you follow the instructions.
I should also point out that if you want to run the Sense UI(Hero ROM) Rogers has already come out with an upgrade, HOWEVER, this is not enabling many functions such as tethering, multitouch, flashplayer, etc. Well actually I'm not sure if the upgrade supports that, but I'm assuming it doesn't.
The the record, the people that say this is a bad phone either has not upgraded to the Sense UI that has been put out there for grabs from their service providers or has not rooted their phone for complete access and control.
Good luck with upgrading and I hope you choose to root and apply Custom ROM's because you can change ROM's at any time and whatnot if you do it that way, instead of simply upgrading to the Sense UI from the Service Providers. But if you really feel that you can't do the rooting and custom ROM process, getting the Sense UI offered from your service provider will be better than the boring old interface.
If you do choose to get root access and custom roms, read and REREAD everything!

Just replaced my HTC Dream with this, and I gotta say its awesome.
Pros:
- faster than Dream
- nice Sense UI update
- customizable
- small and light
- beautiful screen
- all the features you need
Cons:
- miss the keyboard.. :(
- the black model attracts mad fingerprints and dust
- on screen keypad not the greatest (iPhone better)
