Can anybody fit this nexus 9 into front pants pockets like jeans or anything like that to use as a phone? I currently use the 8 inch samsung galaxy tab s2 8.0 as my daily driver phone(I can fit it into my front jeans pockets easily). So I was just wondering if I can go even bigger and get a 9 inch phone?

The device is now offered over the air upgrade to Android 6.0, which I found doubles the battery life while the device is in "sleep mode" (i.e. not being used).

My niece wanted an iPad but because it was too expensive and we couldn't afford it, we opted for the Nexus 9. If you are from UK, Argos offers the Nexus 9 for £179.99 (that's £119.00) but offer ends 6 October 2015. I would personally have gone for the iPad Air 2 if I could afford it because iOS is well optimised for the iPad and better battery life. Android on tablets is just a scaled up of the mobile version.
However, the Nexus 9 is an awesome tablet. Receive the updates immediately. Great dual front facing speakers and performs smoothly. The battery life and build could have been better.
