G2 was the best phone of 2013 period. It had snapdragon 800, an astounding battery life, a decent camera and good enough screen. I'm a proud g2 owner. G2 is still a great phone.

I'm just saying g3 is not an upgrade over g2. It doesn't get improved much. AND specs do matter. I can say how a phone will perform entirely based on specs. If a phone has same camera sensor with same processing, it's not going to produce greater shots.

Smartphones next year will sport QHD displays that's for sure but those smartphones will have better GPUS that will handle QHD just fine. Also QHD manufacturing process will be refined and we'll get displays which will consume less power. I don't see the need for QHD with snapdragon 801 as adreno 330 is weak for that.

Your post just doesn't make sense. You rejected s5. I know that. And as far as I know, LG and Samsung follow almost the same approach and the phones are very similar. The UI are similar with loads of features. This year both went flat. Touchwiz looks more refined and better oriented and optimus UI is faster. I love both. You told you preferred m8 over s5 because it has better speakers and premium body. Now in g3, the body is slippery plastic and that's even worse than the soft touch plastic on s5. You're just not making any sense.

I own g2 from months and it's great. The g3 seems the same with almost no upgrades. I see no reason that g3 is superior to m8 and s5. Can you enlighten me how are you feeling that g3 is better.

Asks regarding the camera, I also own a NEX 5r. But I don't carry it everywhere. So phone camera is important.

Everyone has his own choices. I agree to that pretty much. But your choices are seeming to me like a fanboy now. I'll not buy company A or B but only company C or D. You preferred m8 over s5 for some reasons and when a similar phone as s5 comes from your favourite brand, you're enticed. I don't think in any way g3 is superior to m8 and s5, it's their competitor however. And this is from an LG phone owner.

Have a nice day

darkgamer, 28 May 2014i know what phone is being released. Yes, the g3 is release... moreI have used LG phones. My last LG phone was Optimus 2X many years back. I never faced any problem with it. Actually, I have hands on experience with G2. Last year I went to buy a new TV with my father, I checked it in the LG showroom. Of course, it’s not quite impressive when comparing to my previous HTC M7. But history never repeats. It doesn’t mean that their next phone is bad because of their previous phone was bad. For instance, all the Samsung flagship phones are not really impressive after the Galaxy S2.

Another thing is, I don’t care about those specs and illogical comparisons. All I care about real-life performance. I know that there is no any phone can compete with the build quality of the HTC phones. If can, it’s only Nokia Lumia phones. They are not designed in metal, but aluminium frame with polycarbonate back. Nevertheless, they don’t feel cheap as Samsung phones. I don’t care about phone cameras even though it has a 100 mp sensor. I use Lumix for my primary photography.

I don’t think I’ll ever buy a Samsung or Sony phone for many years; they are out of my list. At the moment, my favourite brands are HTC, Apple and LG. I think I can choose which phone I should buy according to my knowledge and experience, likewise Saurav chooses a HTC M7 according to his preferences. According to me, the G3 is a great phone with compared to G2 or even S5, Z2 and M8. LG is the world third largest phone manufacturer. Whether you like it or not, many the flagship phones will come with a QHD display in next year. I’m not sure whether I should buy or not to buy a G3. G3 and iPhone 6 are my highly anticipated phones. However, this decision doesn't reflects that I'm not satisfy with the HTC M8, but I'm going to experience something new.

    Anyway, thanks for the advice.

    Period!

      Hey guys, I saw this...
      http://www.quellichetelefonano.it/htc-one-m8-made-in-taiwan-vs-made-in-china-schermi-a-confronto/

It's in Italian... here the translation:

"Try to see that particular comparison 2 M8 from different backgrounds, there are actually 2 versions and bring with them some slight differences.
This video shows the different shades of screens that does not mean that they are different, but definitely with other calibrations of the color, in fact it can be seen that the photographs have the same tone if downloaded to a computer and the small variations below are certainly due to the distances and positions slightly different in the 2 photos in comparison.

      I would conclude with:

Made in China has warmer colors on the screen.
Made in Taiwan cooler colors on the screen.

This is the first evidence that we compare, others will follow soon on other possible differences. See for yourself the original photos and videos of both and devices" *End of Translation"

Obviously it affects the whites a little bit and hence the colors... Perhaps some color calibration? Did anyone read about such differences? What's your experience?

darkgamer, 28 May 2014i know what phone is being released. Yes, the g3 is release... moreUr quite right about it....infact i would still prefer the clean simple fast ui of htc sense....qhd will drain battery like hell...also in a first impressions video of g3 i didnt like the ui at all...icons looked extremely hideous....also unnecessary animations going here and there...and unneccesary battery drain.....
          ....

The QHD screen is a gimmick. You just can't see pixels even on a 1080p screen. But this will deplete the battery faster and put a good strain on GPU. The camera is the same as G2 and by that i mean unimpressive. I own a G2 and i can safely say that it falls short of my s4 in dynamic range. The laser focus is not very useful. For example, s5 has phase detection which focuses in 300 ms and g3 uses phase detection along with laser focus which reduces it to 273 ms( not much difference).

Battery has the same 3000 mAh capacity which combined with a larger, high resolution screen will really put a dent in battery life compared to g2.

And the material is glossy plastic ( i hate glossy plastic on my s4 and g2).

Chipset is still snapdragon 801( not a big upgrade over snapdragon 800 of my g2).

I can't find even 1 reason to upgrade from G2 to G3. Almost no improvement in screen and camera and degraded battery. Slightly improved chipset and UI won't force me to buy it.

I recommend to not buy g3. You'll lose your metallic body of m8, the stereo soeakers, htc sense and that 5 MP selfie camera. I don't think it's worth it unless you get it for free.

Have a nice day. And just before puttin on screen time, just check that the graph goes in only a single charge. no charging in between.

If yes, then i think there is a fault or bug in your phone. there can be no way m8 can deplete battery this fast. S4 has a worse battery than m8 but still mine gets easily across 5 hours of on-screen time. i've even reached 7 hours on light load such as reading book. I have a G2 which consistantly crosses 6 hours pretty easily. And m8's battery should be quite close to G2.

Please recheck it. It's a very good friend of mine who's going to purchase a phone and I suggested him m8 over s5 and z2 due to the phone being better to the average non-geeky person being simplistic and fast.

Actually, I personally never used an HTC One Max. However, I have checked it in a phone store. The main reason why I don't like the One Max, because it is too huge, larger than even Note 3.

Specs wise, the M8 is definitely better. Similarly, display on the M8 is better than the One Max display. I can't say which camera is better at the first hand, because I never used the One Max camera. But the M8 camera certainly has new features. Another advantage of the M8 is its motion gestures which haven't on the One Max. I suppose the main advantage the One Max has over the M8 is its excellent battery life.

If you certainly need a phablet phone, I recommend you the upcoming HTC Max 2 which plan to release in the second quarter of this year. As a general phone, I guess M8 is ideal for you.

If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask.

A incredible phone by HTC but I still think 5.2" is the norm now compare to 5". An increase in camera megapixel n battery would really do some good to the already awesome spec n features.

Bought it 3 days back. I must say I'm in love with this phone. My phones Antutu score is 38566 which shocked me. Low megapixel is not at all problematic as it's picture quality is awesome. Very beautiful screen and superb touch. I guess it got floating touch as sometime touch is responding while I'm not touching the screen properly. Rs- 48000 is not waist for me. Njoying it's buttery smooth UI. And lastly it's style. Ufff it's lovely.. thank u HTC For this lovely smartphone.. loved it.

i read your suggestion for about 3 or 4 times and realized your point what actualy you are try to explain. i know Note 3 is a state of the art product from Mobile Giant, and let me tell you my heart also sounds for Note3 big size does;nt matter. i see lots of drops tests on youtube as you suggested and i realized that poly plastic have ability to absorb sudden shock. i have'nt notice any difference in S4 or S5 hardware is almost same only S5 have advantage in Camera and Fingerscaner department.
So again thanks alot for your suggestion. in next 2 or 3 days INSHA ALLAH i will purchase my Note3 in Abu Dhabi.

Metal build phone are actually not as good as imagined,I'll prefer high-end quality plastic over metal. You'll easier to get bump or scratch in compare with plastic, weight will be lighter, price will be cheaper.Anyone who want to get the One,better wait for the plastic One.+Cheaper price and better camera(in term of megapixel)with same good specs.
