Every htc one series phone is great, with htc black bar, ultra pixel camera, boom speakers and metal body, those are the features which makes it different from other android phones. I own one m7 and m going for upgrade. I am not happy that htc got rid of ultra pixels camera they could have work around it to make it better, but for the beautiful design made up of metal body boom speakers black htc bar it will remain a htc fan, I will decide whether I go for m9 or m8s.

I suggest all of you to keep your m7/m8. and wait for m10. HTC fooled me.I sold my m8 and brought the m9.And I'm hugely dissatisfied. The things that not impressed me is the weak battery.and is surprisingly weaker, than m8.Display also lacks balance in color unlike the m8.though m9 is just as bright.but the color,contrast..I expected it would be better than its predecessor. and the boomsound isn't that deep sounding anymore. It gives a slightly tinny sound compare to m8 specially with theater mode on.and the audio quality through headphone..well its the best experience with the phone Im having. speed of the phone is amazing. it will give you a lag free gaming experience. But this is something that m8 also offers.so I rate this phone 5.5 out of 10.

What you say is spot on. The M9's screen is a wash. It is one of the worst displays from HTC. The performance of the SD 810 is also going to be a problem, as overheating/throttling will hinder the device.

HTC has really screwed up with the M9, and it will sit on many store shelves collecting dust because of it. Sending it back and avoiding the headache is very smart.

This will probably go down as HTC's most regrettable mishap. Expect for the company to gracefully bow out of mobile competition in 2017/18. Sony will be first (as already announced), and HTC will follow soon after.

On the bright side, you'll possibly pick up the Galaxy S6, which has the best display, best performance, and best software suite. I guarantee that you'll never look back.

I have been a fan of HTC phones for years (since the desire HD). I got my M9 on release day in the UK and I am so disappointed... I am actually sending it back.
I cannot find any advantage over the M8 in day to day use, and the phone seems to have taken a step back in 2 key areas; display and battery life.
I know they are using the same screen as they did with the M8, but put the two side by side and you can see that the colours on the M9 have been washed out. Having done some research, it seems that HTC have changed the colour temperatures and that the screen now has a 'poor' rating in this area. The depth of colour that is on my M8 is gone on the M9 - and it's very noticeable. Everyone that I have shown the two screens to agrees - the M8 was better!
The battery also seems to drain a lot quicker on the M9... I haven't used it for long so this may be something that gets better over time.
The camera also seems pretty ordinary and could use some stabilization software.
Sadly HTC have lost a customer on this occasion... I prefer my M8! My M9 is back in its box ready to be sent back. I am probably going to reluctantly give the S6 a go despite being a HTC man for years... The M9 doesn't cut it.
