AnonD-369506, 02 Mar 2015Hello all, I am a recoverying samsungholic. I am breaking u... moreI have the original HTC One M7.

I was weary at first about Sense UI, and had been planning on rooting the phone and putting a stripped-down rom on it. Much to my surprise, however, I grew to like Sense.

It's already pretty light, the only major feature being the news feed screen in the home app, which can't be disabled. I was worried it would just be annoying, however I quite like it. Multiple, customizable news sources, plus a smattering of posts from your social media apps.

I don't like the Sense calendar, but it's got the google calendar on there too so I just use that. The other built-in apps are pretty good, nice and simple without many superfluous features I don't need. The clock app has stopwatch and timer, for example (yes, I realize this is pretty standard).

Really the only part about Sense I don't like but can't avoid is the inability to continuously scroll through the apps window, it displays them as a series of separate screens you need to swipe through. However I don't use it enough to really be too much of an issue, I keep my most-used apps on the desktop, occasionally grouping similar apps in folders.

I think if I ever do root the phone I'll keep SenseUI.

                    Another opinion

Display technology:- now a days you can have the touch sensors in the glass itself removing an additional layer and thus by giving true user experience. Why aren't you going in that direction.

                      Third opinion

Battery:-- have you guys done the full load testing of this thing, in actual conditions and not the ideal one?
I suggest you do it, better give the beta testing users to do it. they would be more ruthless and not so kind in giving verdict.
You must have by now crossed 3500mAH mark, poor. I am sure you don't want to brag here by comparing with Samsung s6.

                      Most important of all.

Now a days common user is doing huge amount of banking, shopping and surfing on mobile. 5 incher is not at all adequate by any means to do that.
6 incher is slightly too big so you need to go at least 5.5 and less than 6 incher.

Your HTC Logo at the bottom of the screen, can you make it more prominent somewhere else, it is taking up more precious space for display.

In continuation with my previous personal opinion.
                        1) RAM, even new comer like ASUS with zenfone 2 has become worlds first to give 4 GB RAM in about $300 phone why cant you guys do it with charging so much?
                        2) you have expandable card slot but you need to increase in built memory from 32 GB to 64 or 128. Internal memory is always faster that card, no brainer here.
                        3) add 2 slimline speakers to the side of the phone and one at the back to make it 5 speaker system.
Hairline speakers can be easily put.
                        4) You have taken right decision to dive deep into you sense UI and start tweaking it finally to give wholesome functionality.
Dig more deeper into it, like Contacts, dialer, and SMS app. Tightly integrate it with all the basis and width covered to an extent that people don't need to download and install 3rd party apps. I agree they are free but you have your staff with you who is more than able and have ample amount of time with them for entire year to come @@@@@

I watched the live launch of M9 yesterday.

                              I was grossly disappointed.

Even the body language of people of the company on dais lacked confidence. It seems they have run out of new ideas and hit roadblock.

They as usual trying to stand out in the crowd ignored valuable suggestions of consumer fraternity.

I am software product developer myself, you cannot ignore what consumer wants. After all you make product for them to use and not for yourself. That's the rule.

couple of things gone horrifically wrong
                              1) QHD, I understand that visually there is not much difference of impact in 5 incher between FHD and QHD, but again if consumer wants it you have to give it.

                              2) There could be more innovative way to distinctly differentiate m9 from m8 people don't want to be explaining that this is newer model @@@@

                              3) OIS is very important now a days in Mobile camera, it is fast becoming defacto standard.

                              4) you could have taken advantage of snapdragon 810 capability and given 4k playback on tv as well (I am not sure if it already there or not)

                              5) I hope for company's sake that camera can perform. After watching s6 bold results display and open competition with iphone there is something to worry in this department also.

                              6) most importantly the pricing should be not a dime more than m8 for this equipment.
All electronic items in market are getting cheaper with respect to time due to mass manufacturing. And looking in perspective that they have not added much to older design the price should not increase.

This Phone will obvious above 45K... but again the resolution is very poor i.e 1080 x 1920 pixels... it should be 1440 x 2560 pixels Quad HD to beat LG G3.

I am really surprised that hTC people didn't notice this.

The design language of htc is always good and unique. Some problem is with large footprints of the device but still can be justified with those front facing boom sound speaker.

Comparing it with s6 it has a few advantages and also some corns

1)1080p is very well on a 5" screen and you do not need to go for a QHD.

2)The curved back body had better grip in hand ,it goes with the shape of human palm.

3)The metal unibody looks gorgeous and htc one is a far better looking device than the s6.

4)The placement of power button on the right side is a revolutionary step in the m9 .Icant tell how much I hate that button on the top for a 145mm tall device.

5)Samsumg has compromise the battery for achieving a slim body.It even uses a QHD display ,so the battery life of the m9 is going to be much better than the s6.

6)The only advantage with the s6 has the fingerprint sensor with certified online bill payment this is feature that may change many minds towards the device.

Conclusion: If you are design lover than htc is providing you the best design in the whole market ,you cannot find a device as good as the one m9 .Even the iphone cannot match the one in design and built.

On the other hand the s6 uses the metal between two glass slabs which is used by atleast 70% of the manufacturer on their flagships.

While if you are a feature lover than the sensors on the s6 can never be unjustified.

This phone seems to be two years old in terms of spec's. I'm using a Note 3 and many specs are similar to my 2 yr old Samsung! Also, new phones are thin & slim, come coming in under 5mm why is this dinosaur so thick? Resolution too low and screen real estate wasted. Better to have a more secure OS than Android too; try Cyanogen Mod; which is "today's" OS not yesterdays.
