I guess the model is fantastic. I like very much to have the QWERTY keyboard.
Does anybody know the release date for this phone?

If GPS is included, how come there is no mention of it in the HTC website?

Thanks Ali and Manuel,
but for the GPS, you said the receiver is built-in I agree with that, but can I install an application for GPS, because if you use the Google one, it will charge you for internet connectivity.
in other words, since it has built-in gps receiver, so can we install an application for gps and use it in UAE for example.
thanks and regards.

The S730 has an internal GPS reciever...u hav to enable it first using the HTCGPStool or GPS Test and use google maps if u wish...but S730 has internal GPS for sure..

more RAM = more battery usage ...
and really theres no need for more RAM , u see all the new eten ppcs have 64 of RAM ! so dont be mad about same amount !
bcuz new windows mobile wont install on these type of ppcs so you will get only to WM6 that 64 is enough !

The phone shape is lovely, I loved it,
The only one problem with this phone is The RAM it is very very weak, and if you compare with the previos model which is S710 it has the same RAM, I think HTC should or Have to upgrade the RAM, if this is happened the phone will be perfect.
For the GPS, I disagree to have it on the Phone, because assume that you are driving and using the GPS and suddenly you receive a call.
the GPS is must be in the CAR, and the Bluetooth device is available.
Just the RAM must be increased. that is it.

you can buy a bluetooth gps device!
the positive thing is, that the phone is may a little bit smaller without gps. and you may need gps only in your car...

I've been waiting for the S730 ever since it was suggested to have GPS. Now that it doesn't, I had to go to the dark side. I'm really disappointed.

several places say it has GPS:

It means - it is enabled in our preproduction sample.
The productions unit will have the same chip - so GPS will be there. Will it be easily enabled as our preproduction - we cannot say?
We know what to do, so as soon as production units will arrive - we will check them for GPS right away.

Additional differences when compared to the TyTN II are:
weaker battery 1050 vs 1350mAh
weaker camera 2MP vs 3.2MP
lighter weight 120 vs 190g
smaller dimensions so QWERTY will not be as large.
In short this is a more portable phone compared to TyTN II. The crux is how important is touchscreen to the user and whether multitasking or opening of large webpages (RAM hungry) will be frequently needed.
The lower RAM clearly implies that HTC feel that the phone will be used for lighter work eg writinng e-mails. So it all boils down to whether the phone satisfies your needs.

what are the differences of this phone to the tytn II:
- no gps (can be solved with a bt-gps-modul)
- no touchscreen
- s730 is smaller
- less RAM :-(
are there other differences?
is the missing touchscreen (why it have no!?!) a big handicap?

there's hundreds of phones out there, if you dont want a qwerty keyboard, get another one.

I especially LOVE the sliding keyboard on TyTN.
Think this s730 is great BECAUSE it has a sliding keyboard. Otherwise it would be just an average, regular phone.

I wish it didn't have the sliding keyboard, then it'd be thinner and less have less parts that can break. Y would U need a qwerty key board? just use T9. I'm still waiting for one with toush screen, keypad and no moving parts. The best one i've seen so far is the P526, but no shop seems to have it.

The Wings have finally landed! ;-)
This is way cool! But I agree, HTC should've included more RAM...
