well i see the s740 as a smart phone for ppl who dont like touchscreens. i personally dont because a real keypad is always better.
that makes touch dimond = touchscreen users
s740 = touchscreen haters
touch pro = the best of both worlds for ppl with deeper pockets heh

    Well the qwerty keyboad is sure broader (that's a really nice thing to have), it has numpad (another nice thing to have). But the screen is getting smaller (by 0.4" seriously), without touchscreen, the ROM is getting cut by a half, there's no flash, and there's no videocall camera.

          It'd have been great if they'd put folding screen (like nokia tablet) instead of slider. I really hate this sliding mechanism. But this will definately push the price up as it requires two screens.

            This phone sucks compared to the HTC Touch HD and HTC Touch 3G. Terrible idea. Not even worth a look at.

                  This is an improvement on the S710 and S730. I mean just look at the RAM increase and the more potent processor! Twin keypad gives flexibility: one handed or two handed use is possible. The slide out QWERTY means one can type in the vernacular which is just great!
                  Mmm... I would have liked to see FM radio with a 3.5mm output included but I realise you can't have it all!
                  I hope the phone comes with spell check for SMS, e-mails and internet posts. I'm assuming the browser allows for copying and pasting of specified internet passages to different folders.

                      HTC is known for making innovative Handset, But this particullar one would have been the greatest contender for Nokia E90 if the form factor is made in a similar form. The 2.4" external screen is great and the key pad look really great without touching it.hope HTC will make something similar in the future.

                                i sure hope they come out with something similar without the sliding pattern...hence it would be lighter..thinner and a lot less complicated....

                                    I don’t see why people are moaning about the qwerty keyboard as if you want life is all about compromises’ isn’t it?!? For me I don’t like touch screen so this is the phone for me and im really thinking about getting one :)
