Just type in name of whatever you looking for (like tesco, mcdonalds, bicycles, tube sweets, fruits) and in seconds you will have the closest shops/points on map. Excellent. But it uses data connection all the time. BTW: why you data conn is expensive? I am on pay as you go and i pay £2.50 for 5 days unlimited internet in HSDPA and 3G. Thats expensive?

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2008Hi exile :)
I don't have this phone, but I have seen it in... moreWell, TouchFlo works in many other devices manufactured by HTC. The difference is in Diamond we deal with new 3D version which still can work on fast devices like Kaiser or Athena. Slow performance is due to left running in background applications and few bugs in first release of firmware. RAM memory puts this device as one of the fastest on the market. Can be fixed manually (google it!) or you could wait for next firmware. In proper hands it is working excellent. Got it for 5 days and still so excited. And my next one would be touchPro so diamond with keyboard.
Cheers!

For Automatic Delivery Reports for SMS
You need to do the following:
start
messaging
highlight sms/mms then click menu bottom right and choose options
click on sms/mms on this screen too and there you go simply choose the request for delivery report...
Not user friendly but at least there was a way of making it automated with your sms's :)

exile, 24 Jun 2008Hey Anonymous,
I never even mentioned the actual "looks"... moreHi exile :)
I don't have this phone, but I have seen it in stores. It doesn't seem to be cheap and also it doesn't look simple.
And if u see the reaction of the phone is slow, it's because of touch flo. Touch flo isn't a simpe device. If you put touch flo in any other phone, it won't act at all!! I don't know it can be disabled or not, but if u disable the touch flo, u will see this phone rocks!
Actually I'm not an expert, but it was my opinion.
awaiting for your answer.. :)
And sorry for my bad English.

HkBoi2002, 15 Jun 2008Hey guys, sorry for not replying faster, I didn't know so m... moreHkboi2002, Im wondering whether the phone has a real GPS-receiver or only A-GPS (data transfer via network). Data-plans are still pretty expensive, so I would like to deactivate A-GPS, is it possible?
Google maps is free, right? Does it work like any other GPS-Software? All the roads on it in the world? Voice direction? What are the disadvantages of Google maps?
Thank you so much for your help

I never even mentioned the actual "looks" of the product, but since you have discussed them, i just want to add the following
1) the publicity shots make the phone look absolutely fantastic, sadly, when you see it in real, the quality is actually quite ordinary, now i realise that publicity / promotional material is sometimes doctored to make things look really good, but the real product is quite plain and, at approximately 800 usd, its natural to ask for more, again bringing up the case of the 3470 / 3400,they stand out entirely because, of the matte black finish , shiny plastics as in the touch diamond, immediately impart a rather cheap feel to the product
2)more on the GUI / Touch flo, the home menu is not intuitive, even leaving room aside for unfamiliarity for a new product.
3)there is a considerable lag while the menus are being paged,
4)the default grey / silver home menu , coupled with the reflections from the glossy touch screen and ambient lighting, makes for difficult comprehension of the menu content, maybe, you can change the home menu, font and color schemes , to make it more legible?
5) on the positive side - remarkably small in size, specially considering the enormous amount of features
6) waited a long time for this device, but must confess , have been severely let down,

Anonymous, 20 Jun 2008It's my 4th week with this phone, and the more I get to kno... morei really like this phone but is the touch pro going to beat this phone. But I like the touch screen because it is sleek (touch diamond),with touch pro the qwerty keyboard on the phone spoils the beauty of the touch pro (makes it thick). They should have the new and improved touch diamond . HTC must come up with a service for the touch diamond so if you want an upgrade certain parts of the touch diamond such as the cover , ram , rom , internal storage , installing new operating systems such as 6.2 which will come out in the future or some different kind, but this must be affordable .

Just to be clear. iphone is NOT selling for $199. It's $199 with contract and extras! For example in Canada, they are selling it for $199 with 3 years contract PLUS you have to get a data plan on top of your voice plan. That means $199 plus 3 yrs of doubling the price of your current plan. I don't understand why Steve Jobs even announced $199 when its NOT! He should of just say $1 to make it sound more dramatic!

Design is not as important as feature.
Maybe Diamond is not a good-looking phone, but it's much better than Jam.
If you want a stylish phone then go for Gresso!

I bought this phone is Dubai, kept it exactly 5 hours and promptly returned it. It was a disappointment- i am curently running a 4 year old imate jam, so the quantum leap that was to ostensibly accompany this product, simply wasnt there,
1) the look and feel is very cheap, i am not sure of the actual material of the screen, but its felt like semi industrial grade plastic, smudged easily, and its longevity looked dubious
2) the touch flo was quite hesitatnt, there was very little authority or decided "positive feel" in the menus
3)overall interface menu was slow, seems operating system not fully developed, and actually felt like that main processor or graphics chip was just unable to keep up, with touch commands, maybe, there is a patch?
4) the fit and finish of the panel lines was poor,
5) to tell you the truth, the htc 3470 , minus the fm radio and wifi, seemed like a far superior product. atleast in fit , finish and feel, htc should realise by now that plastic always looks terrible, the matt finish of the 3470 was really impressive,
6) overall, it was a thankfully, short but disappointing experience.
7) please also note, that i am a big fan of htc products, and have been using them since the past 6 years, but this diamond touch is an undercooked product,

this pda called as iPhone killer...
and now, iphone launched 3G version for only $199. while HTC Diamond cost about $800.
is this condition will affect HTC Diamond Price in the near future( 1 or 2 month)?
4 : 1 is a lot!
