Ive got this Phone a Month ago and i must say that i was so disappointed from the Very Beginning becuz of its poor Battery and becuz of its Speed , HOWEVER, all that have changed after I flashed a Cooked Rom becuz now it has became Amazing , 50% more battery Life and 25% faster than the Stock Rom (am Using EnergyRom)
and for the Guy who asked for the Arabic Lang , U can Find a Program called MobiDiv-Arabizer (its available in many Forums just google it )

so My overall Rating for it is 8/10 which isnt bad, however i might go for Nexus One soon becuz i believe it deserves 9/10 , Good luck

Corrie, 18 Feb 2010does the fone have garmin GPS ? email me corrie.muller01@g... moreYou can choose whatever GPS software you want / like /prefer.

You may even have more than just one software installed on your TD2.
My phone came with Co-Pilot (trial version) and Route66.

I didn't like Co-Pilot, so I uninstalled it soon after buying it (nothing particularly wrong with Co-Pilot. It was just a question of personal taste, really)and for Christmas, I've bought another Windows Mobile-based GPS software and intalled it.

So, now, depending on the situation and location I get to choose the one I want, as both run flawlessly.

The screen is really vivid and brilliant. It has got a great definition, so you get to carry your GPS and effectively use it, wherever you go!

Try to check out different GPS programmes (trial versions are commonly available) before you purchase the ONE(S) you like.

        Good Luck!

I like this phone a lot!
The battery's only average, I know, but that's only common these days: unfortunately big companies seek only big bucks!

What's more, phones now have large colourful screens, different types of connections, GPS... so many feaures, and on top of it all, you mustn't forget, battery life will have to depend ALSO on its size and this is a comfortable, slim, really handy phone...

As far as touuchscreen and messaging, if you've owned a slower\older phone, you'll find it much more responsive and quicker.
              BUT...
If you're new to it, you'll probably start off by using the stylus most of the time and even getting wrong menus as you get used to it.

Anyway, you'll have to consider that, whatever phone you choose.
All 'Touchscreens' do require some getting used to, as it happened on the early days: we all had to get used to having to press key "1" three times on our first mobile phones' little keyboards just to get the letter "C". Remember that?

The only thing that I still miss when I compare my TD2 to other models is the lack of a 3.5" audio jack.
That would be a great addition and it's a shame HTC have let out such an important feature.

"Try to play with one before you buy."
              There, I fully agree:
If you can: Try before you buy.
That is ALWAYS a great adivice!

              Good Luck with your phone!

Having owned three smartphones before means that I had certain expectations of the HTC TD2. It is fully specced and can do everything other smartphones can do. The catch comes in usability - in other words how easy is it to perform the different functions. The usability of this phone is VERY POOR! It is now lying in my cupboard and I bought a new battery to extend the life of my old smartphone.

It is very difficult to select a contact from a list using the dynamic scrolling. You nearly always select a contact by accident when you scroll down to a contact low down in the contact list. There should have been a vertical scrolling section on the screen where you do not select but only scroll. The text entry mechanism leaves much to be desired. You have a very small window in which the text that you enter is displayed. You sometimes cannot scroll up to see what you have written as part of the current message.

Try to play with one before you buy - else you may make a very expensive mistake. Like I did!

xda, 13 Feb 2010Excellent phone. For all you folks who have just bought the... moreI couldn't agree more!

As I've said before,it's a great reliable phone.

It has great sound quality, video call, WiFi and Bluetooth!
It is really handy, it's got a great screen and lots and lots of extra software available: GPS; games; applications; updates; ROMs, etc!

What more could you ask for? What more could you need?
                            * I know I would like a 3.5 mm audio jack!!! That IS the fault I find with this phone! *

All in all, I am very happy with mine.

And, being happy with my Diamond2, has got a BIG advantage:
I don't feel tempted with all these new models coming out DAILY, and I don't miss any of its functions.
                            (no, I don't need a flash, but I DO miss a 3.5 jack)

Concluding, I sure don't feel the need for spending money on a new model...
... and that is always a good sign!

AHT, 10 Feb 2010If I can't get an upgrade to WM6.5, am I gonna miss a lot o... moreWell, after updating mine I felt disappointed, not because of the battery or gps programmes, they all kept running just the same way, but because I've felt wm6.5 is basically a visual update, no more, no less.

Let me answer your questions the best I can:

                                      1- No problems during update.
Make sure your battery's loaded and DO NOT disconnect the phone at any point during update.
Basically, I've followed the instructions and the whole process went smoothly and without any problems.

2- I've got Igo and Route66 installed and they kept on running exactly the same way (no improvement whatsoever).

3- Although some people have mentioned it, I don't think the phone's got any slower.
The battery keeps lasting for about 2 days, no more.
I keep using WiFi, I make lots of calls, but I only use GPS when connected to a power supply (usually, the car's).

All in all, you get a "nicer/prettier" windows mobile. No inconvenients, no problems, not even a slower phone... what you DON'T get is any major software development:
It allows you to spend your money easily on "windows Market", but copying Apple's original way to separate you from your hard-earned cash, isn't my idea of "update", but after all, that is all it seems to be: visual gimmicks to keep you feeling you have something "new", and also keeping you away from other Operating Systems.

But, then again, that is just one (my) opinion.

Try to see WM6.5 working on a TD2 and see if you like it.
