the online let down is the poor video recording
but it isnt that bad after all:).
im getting this..
everything is perfect plus this is one of the few device which can be upgraded to windows 6.5:)

Just got it and already fall in love with it (also read the review from this site). Although most people call it a phone, i would say a perfect pocketpc :).
(btw it comes with handy stylus)

Well, it works but only in messaging, e-mail and internet...

But this is a software problem and you can go for SPB keyboard which gives you a full screen keyboard.. Otherwise the screen size is a problem and i agree with you about the HD.. Its way better when you do your work on it..

Let me do a fair review on the Text Entry.
I'm having this device for 30min & already disappointed with the input methods.
Personally, I dont use the Stylus because it's inconvenient. I prefer to enter the text by the thumb.
The Diamond 2 offers you 3 main input methods:
- Phone Keypad
- Full QWERTY
- Keyboard.
With the Phone Keypad, you have to press the keys with patience because it's still not as sensitive as it should be. Sometimes the SPACE button doesnt work properly.
With the Full QWERTY input method. What a joke. Unless you are a midget & having tiny fingers with the size of the chopsticks then you'll be perfectly ok with the Full Qwerty. Otherwise, it'll take a lot of cursing to complete a decent conversation.
Keyboard. Ok, impossible to use without the Stylus.
IMPORTANTLY, you can not highlight part of the text message. You can only highlight ONE word, or EVERYTHING. WHAT a load of crap.
To overcome the text entry issue:
1. Do not buy this phone, go for the HD.
2. Wait for the win 6.5 & hope that it'll offer the COMPACT QWERTY.
3. Wait for someone to release a software which offers your Diamodn2 a Compact QWERTY.

Windows Mobile requires a stylus pen, and yes the keyboard rotates all the way to 270 degrees if you want..
And for those whom are concerned about upgrading to WinMo 6.5.. I have an i-Mate PDA2k (2005) which has WinMo 6.5 build 21500 and works smoothly with finger swiping and scrolling too..
No worries about upgrading to a next windows version.. ;-)

will the older phones like the touch hd come with WM 6.5 or 6.1? if it comes with 6.1 can you still download 6.5 and use the touchFLO interface?

Here you can find all about unlocking and flashing your device. You can also find lots of Cooked ROMs here.
Best Rom yet is also found here Dutty Throy's (HD V3 XT SHIP) But please read before installing his ROM because its different than installing other roms, His rom doesn't need Hard-SPL because its based on the official ROM 1.56 and there is no HARD-SPL for that yet..

The ROM is based on the official HD ROM and Diamond 2 (Topaz)..
