well this problem is very frustrating. I'm not too sure, but it appears that a lot of people who have this phone have had this problem as well. So clearly, it's a defect.

It appears that people with 36H00564-OOM or 563 have had this problem.

oh, for tomtom, use bittorrent.

            Abdu Dodo,

Nothing works. Hard reset won't work because the phone isn't operational. And of course, soft reset doesn't work as well.

I can't access the phone at all.

            It just straight out died.

It appears that on other forums that others have also experienced this issue.

Just a solid red light on the Left LED.

Have you tried soft resetting? If that doesn't work then hard reset and get back to me.

                Having a major issue.

Was using the phone (SMS) put it down, went to check the phone not too long after and the phone was just dead. Woudln't turn on or anything. Plugged the phone in the wall, get a solid red light on the left LED. Took the battery out and plugged it in, same thing. Phone will not turn on at all.

Any input? This is really frustrating.. I've had the phone for not even 2 months. When its working, it's great, but now it's not working.

                Someone please help

                    g'day all:
I've been reading quite alot of the general comments and it's neck and neck between this model (TyTN II)& the p3600i. In your expert opinions...which model is best?
                    Cheers
                    JP

First of all, I actually own this phone unlike loads of other posters whio either bitch or praise it without ever having used it. So here's my thoughts on this:

I have the HTC TYTN II from O2 in the UK so it's branded O2 Xda Stellar. O2 haven't crippled the base HTC software too much unlike other providers that I've heard of. It doesn't come with any GPS navigation or the HTC Home plugin (the big clock and shortcut icons that you can see in the pictures on this page). However I installed TomTom myself and it was pretty strauight forward. I also installed the HTC Home plugin and that's a really useful tool (for example it displays speed dials as photos that you just touch on the screen to call).

It could do with being faster, it's not the most responsive when running applications or switching between them, it can take a second or three. A faster processor and more RAM would make a big difference but there's also battery life to consider. Talking of battery life if you use it heavily it will only last about 6 hours on a full charge (with wifi enabled) Sometimes Windows (WM6 Professional)freezes so you have turn it off and back on again which can be annoying but only happens rarely.

The display is fine, I;ve seen people complain about it being only 64k, I've viewed custom themes, background pictures and even movie clips and they are absolutely fine. You can watch movie trailers from Windows Media Players website although either do that when connected to Wifi or if you have an unlimited data package (I have both). You can use media player or HTC's own audio manager to play your mp3's. I prefer Audio Manager as it displays the song info in the HTC Home Plugin and is generally easier to use.

The touch screen could do with being a little more sensitive if you want to use your finger instead of the stylus. This setting can be changed with a registry editor. Google it and follow instructions.

As a phone it's not so great. It has video calling etc but to dial numbers on the touchscreen it's quite fiddly without the stylus. Also during a call the screen switches itself off which is really annoying. There's also a registry tweak that can fix this however. The phone uses outlook contacts, you can add photo's to each contact and they will show up when you call them or they call you. However for such a big screen, the picture displayed is tiny and you'd have to be holding the phone close to actually see it. You can get a plugin called photo contacts from Microsofts Website that lets you view contacts by picture and name rather than just name and also displays a larger picture when they call you, but you have to buy this eventually after a 90 day trial. Photo Contacts is not very slick/professional looking in my opinion although you may like it.

My biggest dissappointment was the camera. It is pretty much useless despite the 3MP marketing hype. Everytime you move the lens the whole picture on the screen warps like a move flashback scene. If you're taking pictures of statues or buldings, great, they dont move. People, animals, sports etc forget about it. All you'll see is a fuzzy blurr if they are moving while you snap. Going from that to video... you can see there's no point in making videos with this camera at all. I mean you expect things to move in a video right but the camera will just warp and blurr etc so it's useless.

My brother works for O2 and he says it's the same for all the Xda/PDA phones that O2 do and O2 use HTC but just rebranded. I know it's a PDA but c'mon, if you;re gonna go to the trouble of including a camera, at least make one that works.

Overall as a smartphone I'm quite happy with it, it's not as pretty as the iPhone but from a productivity point of view, ie outlook, calendar, tasks, email (any email including web,POP3 etc) web browing, and any other additional apps you'd like to add like Tom Tom, Google Earth (i have this also) it's really good. I managed to find pocket Putty so i can connect to my shell accounts. There's also a remote desktop application that lets you login into your windows pc's. You can also get VNC to do the same for other OS's.

Hope this has been helpful to anyone considering this phone.
