Ans: HTC wildfire is shipping with android 2.1 (eclair). You can upgrade to 2.2 which is available through Over the air update. (using wifi/gprs/3g).
2.3 (gingerbread) update is not out yet officially. And, HTC's announcements do not point on getting gingerbread to htc wildfire.. So not sure on that front.
Reverting back your OS is something I haven't tried. But I do remember someone trying it, and not succeeding even though the guy tried resetting to factory default.

BK, 07 Mar 2011hi i am using this phone since 2weeks and i am amesed with ... morewell your internet usage is eating up all the battery...if u switch of the net then it will last for like forever..mine when switched off lost only 10% battery in 12 hours!!! but then again this makes the phone pretty useless as it heavily relies on the net...then the best option is to use battery saving apps like the juice defender which improves ur battery life by almost 2 times...

                                        1. Resolution is Ok. And ya, just ok. Not the best, but I don't find any issue with it for my use case.
                                        2. Battery lasts more than a day, with average talking, browsing.. (on froyo)
                                        3. camera is good in day light.. It has a bit of a problem with the image stabilisation, but once u are used to it, clicks well, pictures come out pretty decent.
                                        4. There are plenty of free apps, I have not downloaded a paid app till date and have around 30-40 apps in my phone. So don't worry about this..
