I finalised on WAVE (8500) but before I could go for it there is nothing available. All that is available is the lower end version of wave. Now I looked at the reviews of HTC Wild fire it sounds interesting, I would like to know more about the screen resolution and the battery back up. Can you pls mail me about this to krnarain@gmail.com

I'm from India. In Chennai I found a single available peice in Poorvika Mobiles,Triplicane for Rs.15,300.
Bought it a week ago. I am still smiling. Its stunning. Credit goes to Android and bit more to hTC.

I've been a Nokia user for years, tried out all Symbian Versions; except the S^3 OS. Was planning to buy C6 untill I read the complaints lodged in Nokia Website.
[Never liked Samsung because its a "Korean Mobile". PUN.]
Decided on Andriod. Budget below Rs.15k. Shortlisted Sony X8, hTC Wildfire, Samsung Galaxy 3.
Galaxy 3:Saw demo at Croma, screen was bad. Plasticy back cover. Camera is good even with 3MP. But its not getting 2.2 update. Dropped it.
Sony X8: No Autofocus(Thats very bad). Still running 1.6. Dropped it.
Wildfire: Couldn't even find the piece anywhere. hTC doesn't run any Ads in India.(Why?) Finally at Poorvika; No demo allowed.
Scoured through reviews and videos. (Watch the official video). Bought it. Poorvika gave 6-EMI plan. :)

I was most worried about screen resolution being low. It turned out to be decent. Definitely not bad. As for app-compatibility high-end 3D games won't run. Ok for 15k. (Battery of Galaxy S drains out in 5 hrs on these games). Camera is superb. Optical trackball is superb. Best thing is the Keypad.(Its correcting everything perfectly. OMG,How?) Only in HTC you get this feature. Swype on Samsungs are not that good. I tried on Galaxy 3.
I'm a engg graduate. Tech savvy. Very useful apps, widgets etc. makes this the perfect mobile for Indian Customer.
And you know what there is "Speech to Text" also in 2.2. Truly VFM

Biggest problem with HTC phones is battery life. Batter life is pathetic.
HTC is not ideal for gaming and music. Better you opt for either Nokia or Samsung.

To anyone who is concerned about the QVGA resolution: it's really not noticeable that is actualy "only" 320x240. I mean come'on people just a year ago this res. was quite good(if u ask me it still is!). My guess about why ppl r saying bad things bout the phone's res. is introduction of the RETINA display by Apple. Yes it has the best display in the world, but it also is one of the most expensive handsets out there. And compared value/price of the HTC Wildfire and Apple iPhone, the apsolute winner is Wildfire HANDSDOWN! If u want reasonably prised phone with superb performance than i totaly recommend the Wildfire. I hope this was helpfull..... See Ya ;-)

The wildfire is not a phone for you if you want really good multimedia features like camera and video recording and games. It's advantages are the reliable and powerful android platform along with the stunning htc sense user interface and the build quality of htc. Also its performance and touch screen are superb. Camera and music are also quite good. I own it and am really pleased with it. No other phone offers this quality at such a price. But please don't buy it if your priority is multimedia and gaming. You may be totally disappointed.
Ps. It doesn't support live wallpapers.

i dont understand why ppl are complaining about this phone. i ve been using it since months now. its good. like the sense. resolution is qvga but its good enough for its size.

ppl having problems with the speed? root ur phone and install wildpuzzle rom. its froyo 2.2. then overclock your processor to 768 mhz. install market patch and get any app you are looking for.

i am like dude, u dont know a jack about android, you dont buy it. buy symbian and get spoon fed.

I bought this phone. Now i wish a didnt it is terrible! The camera is poor the screen res is the worst this of all for the price its only 240 by 320 it completely spoils this phone not to mention the processor is out of date and cant manage any games. Im selling mine for £70 because this is all i believe this phone is worth.
