Radio is a Windows Phone 8 issue, not a W1 one. The hardware is present but the software doesnt support it. It should be fixed with an update soon or later.
And yes, Viber and Whatsup are available, although not as good as the Android ones.

hi , 18 May 2013Hi have also a huawei ascend w1, i think i made i'll never ... moreensure you check your networks 3g band becase the w1 has two sets of 3g bands.HSDPA 900 / 2100 and HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100. if ur network only supports 900 and you have the model with HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 then you wont get 3g

Hi have also a huawei ascend w1, i think i made i'll never by one again i have the huawei w1 4about 2 weeks and the 3G data dont work enny more i call my provider over the probleme and he say that i have to go the shop. Becouse they can see noting over the telephone,so i'm hear with a niew w8 that can not go surf on the web, i'm verry sorry because i have a contract 4 two yars and 1G internet data but i can not use. Pleazzzzzze is enny one out there can help.thanks

Remarkable phone from the Huawei conpany.Finally a windows 8 OS.very intrigued by the front and rear 5mp camera..comes with an LEDflash,thats awesome!

Awesome phone right there, almost confused by its appearance it looks exactly like the Nokia 8720.Amaizing product from the Huawei company..their first windows 8 phone cant wait to have a hand- on look at it.But i definately think that Safaricom will reduce its price after it has stayed for more than an year in the market..it might drop to 12000/= fingers crossed -_-

I have this phone. GSM arena seems to have done a mistake specifying the battery as 1950mah but the correct size is actually 1750mah. Well, isn't Kenya having a good time with smartphones. They are always being released here within a month! Great.but we sometimes feel like guinea pigs.
Great phone, its my second Windows Mobile device after a bad stint with an iPaq from HP, Windows Mobile 5.1 ages ago.
Nice shape, ips display,vivid colours but the phone produces cracking sounds from the speaker occasionally. Bad, Nasty earphones which give sound quality a bad name! Great value for money, I got mine in black, but there is white,blue and also red. Free* 500mb from my carrier Safaricom plus no locking.
Great tip...I have a Galaxy Note 2 and the stock earphones are awesome! Great sound! Guess what? They also work in the Huawei Ascend W1, Lumia 620...520..etc .The Galaxy Note 2 volume controls also work great too on the Lumias an the Huawei Ascend W1! Get a pair if you can! I probably think the Galaxy S3 and S4 earphones would also work.
The Huawei has no FM radio, missing apps like my browser Opera Mini and lots of getting used especially coming from an Android

friend, 15 May 2013i buy this cell yesterday and i forgotten my password.. any... moreSadly your only solution is a hard reset (you will restore factory settings and lose *everything* on the phone of course).
Just google how to do it. And next time do not set a password if you cannot remember it for more than 24 hours. :D

i have this fone at first it was but 1 month after i notice that the battery saver is not accurate. 91% battery last only 4 hours. i think windows phone 8 has software problem, needs an update.

Aussie, 06 May 2013Nokia lumia are the best........don't waste your money on a... moreThe lumia 520 I had was great till the volume microswitches failed. Then the replacement phone was fine for a week then the touchscreen failed. Will try the huawei now.
Maybe the 620 Will fair better but I've been put off Nokia now.

I bought this phone 3 days ago for its price cause I wanted to try the wp8 platform for 230 euro.Average cam,very good battery life,inadequate ram memory but wp8 works great,the 4gb no matter for me while there is the choice of external SD card.My opinion is that the device worths its money till the last eurocent. Its the cheapest wp8 in Greek market and has the front camera which does not exist on Lumia 520. I would suggested to the light users of wp8 platform with no doubt!!

nono , 10 May 2013the battery of this it doesnt not last for a long time Lol, the battery will last days unless you play a lot.
Just like EVERY other smartphone.
