Bought this phone a year ago for Ksh.8,000. It offers better than it costs. Rooted it, installed a new rom that can play Temple Run (Classic and Oz), the CPU can be overclocked to 1 Ghz. This phone is amazing in the right hands. For the battery, I have no problem with once a day charge.

How to Root Y100

I tried to root first, I got super user, but something was wrong and I couldnt delete preinstaled apps.
Than I have instaled custom Rom, it was a piece of cake, I have friezed a few apps, for now, before deleting them for good, also installed the link2sd and everything works flawlessly.
But I hope nothing go wrong, because no valid garanty anymore.

One way of creating extra internal storage is to remove updates from large apps like Youtube and Documents to go.You will get extra 30 mb and it wont affect the running of those apps.

I have succesfully rooted my Y100 and instaled a custom rom. The interface doesnt look so cool anymore, but now i can use link2sd to extend the memory capacity.

Not a sensors from ascend 100..this is a not true...not proximity acclrt and compass not sensors

Y100 is much better than ZTE Racer 2, the build quality, screen, everything, no problem with the battery also, when you do not use, turn off the wifi, 3g internet, ....

My new phone is great. But although I can receive text messages, I can't manage to send replies or messages.Everytime I try to reply or send a message "Send failed" appears.I've looked at the phone settings and the online user manual but have yet to figure out how to fix it. Help please.

Also download (Norton Halt)from playstore to prevent online hackers from erasing your contacts again.Good luck.

mrhen, 04 Jun 2013i am using Ideos Y100 it is a great phone but i lost Intern... moreI had a similar problem, go to network settings, then go to access points , fill as follows, name Vodacom internet, apn internet, McCain 640, mnc 04, ipversion ipv4, apn type default, save settings and create another new process and repeat the same process ditto, u will enjoy very cheap internet, iam always on you tube streaming something which i can't do back at home with safcom as it is very costly

Is it better than ZTE Racer2 that I already have,Y100 has a faster cpu and gpu and it is Android 2.3, ZTE Racer is 2.2, and how much in $ that difference is worth because its package doesnt have a sd card and earphones. Thank you.
