AnonD-247877, 26 Mar 2014my phone acsend y300 is locked? i forgot my patteren for un... moreI presume these instructions for the Y200 will be the same for your Y300 to follow - "In order to restore functionality of your phone, you will need to perform a factory reset operation." :-

I forgot my password pattern and now I cannot use my Huawei 200 phone. What shall I do?

Don't know what the Menu Button is referred to in the link - maybe the Y200 has one [?] so just try using Volume Up and Power button.

              Good luck!

Correcting myself!(Posted anonymously) "..it's eat through your data fairly quickly." should read
"it'll eat through your data fairly quickly." + "..the phone will come an MTN SIM." should read "the phone will come with an MTN SIM."

AnonD-247970, 26 Mar 2014Hi, I'm considering buying this phone (RSA), but am concern... moreAnnette, I've contributed to some of the RSA posts here recently. You're asking a very general question, as only you'll know exactly what you use the phone for - if for eg. you get a lot of mail with attachments, then sure, it's eat through your data fairly quickly.

                  I suggest a few things:
Likely that wherever you buy it, the phone will come an MTN SIM. You can use either Cell C or Telkom Mobile 3G prepaid instead, if wherever you're based, your signals are strong enough - test out with prepaid SIMs that cost nothing or next to nothing. You get more data for less through them ; but have either/both MTN or Vodacom SIMs as backup, in case you're totally reliant on 3G (ie don't have Wi-Fi access), or need to guarantee a signal in SA.

You can put an app like this from the Play Store on the phone : Data ON-OFF https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.miabit.android.dataonoff
Not used it myself, as link up via Wi-Fi most of the time, but try it out.

Use Opera Mini for browsing as much as you can, as that compresses the data. The GMail app works well, so if using that service, allow it to sync about 2-10 days worth of mails at a time - I find it to use a nominal amount via Wi-Fi, but Twitter can add up quickly with all the refreshed pages.

Note that a more compelling thing to consider is whether you're prepared for a phone that has only 512 MB RAM as internal memory, as it suffers somewhat from lag the more apps you put on (even taking into account those you can move to SD card), but for the price, most of us live with it! Good luck, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Hi, I'm considering buying this phone (RSA), but am concerned about the data usage. Can someone tell me if the data usage is high? If so, can it be managed or not? Tx :)

I got this one last week here in Switzerland. Paid $40,- and I got $ 10,- phone credit. For that kind of money it is an amazing deal. It's not an iPhone or Samsung, but for 5 percent of the price it delivers 90 percent of the tricks! Their home-made OS takes a bit getting used to, but in the end it is largely logical and practical. Runs a whole day, and charge overnight, no problem. If you take pictures under good circumstances (bright light) you won't be disappointed. And if taking pictures is THAT important, then maybe you should get a proper camera, right?.
