Coming from a P30 pro (new) I dont see any noticeable difference from my 1 year old mate 20 pro, Who knows how the previous owner charges this phone.
Yes, from what I read charging your phone between 40% ~ 80% is good for the battery, as it has limited cycles. So, draining and juicing it up to a 100% is counted as 1 cycle so on and so forth.
Yes, p30 pro and mate 20 pro heats up bit while fast charging.

Any long term Mate 20 Pro users can chime in regarding the battery degradation and charging?
I have been using the fast charger supplied with the phone and I charge my phone twice a day, as in I don't let my battery go below 50%. At times my phone do get warm while charging but I understand it's due to fast charging.
So what I want to know is, is my charging habit good for the battery? Also can I use other powerbrick that has slower charging to charge the phone?

I admit its small but still eats a lot of space and you tend to miss notifications. I don't mind to sacrifice a few mm's of screen real estate. Hope they did something on the upcoming emui 10.1 update.

Late to the party but hoping to make up for it lol! Prior to this, had jumped from a Mate 10 Pro to a Pocofone F1, just to see what the fuss was about. Well, had enough of that, bought the Mate 20 Pro because it was on offer, just loving it, love Huawei's battery and OS management - Never had slowdowns or hiccups with the M10P and hoping for the same great things from the M20P. So far loving the camera and the screen - and coming from the Pocofone, had no problem with the M20P's notch, which definitely seems a little..."2018" nowadays lol.

I came from S10, Oneplus 7T and P30 pro then side jump to mate 20 pro.
Yes, my phone choice is kinda eclectic.
All I can say is so far this as May 2020
For me nothing else comes close to M20pro for price to performance ration
S10 vs Mate 20 pro = Faster charging 40w vs 15w
camera is better on the M20pro as well.
7t vs m20 pro = Huawei's OS is kind polished vs oxygen OS, don't get me wrong. Oxygen Os is fast, really fast but in terms of day to day use. Huawei's take on android 10 is smoother (less bugs etc)
p30 pro vs M20pro = Stereo speakers!! maybe for some its not important but for me who likes to watch multimedia in my phone. Its a different experience, though p30 pro's camera is a tad better.

The worst phone ever of Mate generation, previous phone was mate 9 wiith me for more than 3 years. Comoaring wiyh this shits that was amazing phone.
Specially if you have a private apace.. Zero security.
Very low sound, no headset jack so you have to remive the headset to insert the charger, completely a stupid phone coparing with previous generation

nevermind, 07 Apr 2020I would like the owners of Mate 20 Pro to answer me honestl... moreHonestly, I had the chance to buy P30 Pro for 445€ in the beggining of the year, it was a no brained deal, but chose to buy the Mate 20 Pro for 505€(a nice price too), and this were my reasons: Wanted stereo speakers, 2k screen and face recognition. The main camera sensor I think it's the same in both phones. My verdict? Best choice ever, I just click to wake up and it recognizes my face in half a second, the speakers are not the best out there for music but are great for stereo content(YouTube, movies, series) like I wanted and so is the screen, beautiful, sharp and color accurate. The camera is a beast, honestly think it beats my DSLR Canon 550D. The processor it's still top of the line, most of the time quicker than my fingers can move. And the battery unless you play PUBG like a maniac you're not going to drain it, in a regular day with regular use it drops 60% with 5 hours SOT, but then I just put it in the charger for 25 minutes and it goes from 10 to 75%, I don't really like to push the battery to 100% to protect it and I really don't need to with this charging speed. And I think the Kirin 980 is already in that range of processors that are already so good that even in 2025 it will run Android like butter, so if you want a phone for a long time this is probably the one, I'm in love and I want to keep it for as long as I can...

Amazing phone, it was released November 2018 and its currently April 2020 and I would say that the mate 20 pro keeps up and is still just as good as today's flagship devices. Which says alot since electronics become outdated so fast. I plan to keep my mate 20 pro as long as possible!
