first they downgrade the ultrawide cam now they downgrade the super slowmotion back to 720P

I have had the Mate 20 Pro since its launch. This now needs to be said. For any fan of any phone out there. First 3 years hard gaming. Now after 5th year still get 2 days out of my battery without gaming but normal usage. Dropped it next to car and DROVE OVER IT. And it works!! Display broken a bit but works!! Huawei was the best phone and TRUMP put a stop to it. But which phone to get now with Huawei under sanctions. Every other phone has a big minus to it.

It is most important for me: I spent 3 hours in the pool with a Mate 20 pro in my pocket without notice, when I take it to call it works perfectly !!!! so I evaluated the Magic 5 pro and Mate 50 Pro as replacement options, on the other hand, there are a lot of options with great specs too more cheap (Nokia)

Anonymous, 28 May 2023Are you sure you would like to buy this phone, it doesn... moreYeah, it probably would have been a big problem back with the mate 40 pro but from what I've heard there is a lot of workarounds now for apps such as google maps and YouTube which are the main google apps I use and everything else should be available though the app gallery or petal search.

If you are a techy guy with some bit of patience, you can consider Huawei services, I would like to buy this phone but I want to stick with my p40 pro.

I hope they keep the notch for the mate 60 pro as this deign with a snapdragon 8 gen 2 chip would be a perfect upgrade from my mate 20 pro. I'm currently leaning towards the honour magic 5 as my fallback option as it looks very impressive in battery life tests, its just the hole punch that's putting me off a bit.

I am using this mate 50 pro since it was launched, and since then, I am using google apps like youtube, gmail, goggle drive, maps, lens, authenticator, gboard, yt studio, and it works fine. though android auto and google assistant dont work but its fine, i dont use them..I am using lighthouse app for this but you have another option of installing gbox for google apps, though some local banking apps dont work still.. overall I am very satisfied with my experience with this phone. it has reliable performance and camera. very good built quality. 5G is neither an issue for me for I think 5G is not yet ready and not so reliable + only available in limited area, 4G is more stable in my area and it works great.

The Mate 50 Pro is, indeed, among the best camera phones on the market, but a big mistake you could do about that is to trust DXOMARK's rankings. They're not accurate at all and brands actually might pay them to put their phone on the top or say good things about it.

The only mate device that's wider than this is the Mate 20 X which was a massive 7.2" screen version of the mate 20

Mate series used to be wider in display but now it's almost identical to p series size :/. Should make it 78-80mm wider in display almost bezeless

Today I tried this device.
I will say it feels really luxurios and the periscope camera is pretty good imo.
Gestures work great, but EMUI looks terriblr as always. All white and trying to emulate iOS design language.
Other than that, well, I guess its a Huawei device. Perhaps it will spy on you and take selfies for Mr. Xi Jinping
