I have the choice of waiting for the Huawei Mate 9 Pro or buying the OnePlus 3T now... For price there's no comparison but what I want are quick updates with very little (preferably no) extra "bonus" software from the manufacturer. How is OnePlus in this area vs Huawei?

If indeed there is no SD Card slot in this mate 9 pro version then this could mate some people's interest go than on it and make the choose Mate 9 over the the mate 9 pro. The fact is I don't like phones without SD Card slot but this phone is too good to be rejected. Any of the two that will come to my country I will buy.

Regarding screens comparison, I have a Samsung S7 Edge and a Mate 9.
I gave the s7 Edge to my wife because, to me, it is prehistoric, regarding Mate 9 :
- Screen is much better on Mate 9
- Endurance is much better on Mate 9
- Pictures are good enough to me, both of them are bad inside and excellent outside.
To my opinion, if Mate 9 Pro has no slot for SDCARD, he is stillborn

Well for mate 9 and mate 9 pro which is the best? I will choose mate 9 pro. Mind you the softwares is the same and same camera too. The difference is the size of the displays and the body design. 5'9 inches as against 5'5 inches and dual curved screen as against flat screen. The real difference is the display. Amoled again IPS LCD. IPS LCD displays crystal clear natural pictures. Amoled displays deep vibrant colours. The fact is the Amoled can exaggerate the picture to look better than it really is. So it depends on your personal choice and preference. Then again Full HD as against Quad HD. The Quad High Definition is better than the Full High definition. The Quad HD has higher pixil density and that can drain battery faster than Full HD but that is why Huawei sensibly kept the 4000 mAh battery although the pro version has a smaller screen than the mate 9. So brother the choice is your's to make.
