Huawei MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition announced, MateBook D 16 2024 comes to Europe

Huawei held a big launch event yesterday where we saw the international debuts of the MatePad Pro 13.2 and FreeClip open-ear wireless earbuds. Those weren’t the only new devices announced on stage as we also got the MatePad Air PaperMatte edition and the MateBook D 16 2024 Windows laptop.

MatePad Air PaperMatte is a revised version of the MatePad Air with a matte anti-glare screen and improved M-Pencil 2 support. The HarmonyOS tablet features an 11.5-inch IPS LCD with 1840 x 2800px resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It also features the Snapdragon 888 4G chipset, up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage as well as an 8,300 mAh battery with 40W wired charging.

Huawei MatePad Air PaperMatte Edition is priced at €649 and comes with a bundled keyboard case.

MateBook D 16 2024

MateBook D 16 2024 was announced in China last month and brings 16-inch IPS LCD with 1920×1200px resolution, a 16:10 aspect ratio and up to 300 nits peak brightness. Huawei fit a full-sized keyboard with a dedicated numpad, five-point touchpad, dual speakers and dual microphones.

The baseline model brings a 13th Gen Intel Core i5 processor and Intel UHD graphics while the higher-end models get i7 and i9 processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics. All models are equipped with 16GB LPDDR4X RAM and 1TB M.2 SSD of the 2280 variety.

MateBook D16 will launch in the UK and Europe and will be offered on in several configurations ranging from €999 for the Intel Core i5 13th Gen model with 16GB RAM and 521GB storage to €1,399 for the Core i9 version with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Pre-orders start on January 8 while open sales begin on January 22.

Wider the better. Every pixel counts. Best is between A4 (16:11.4) and 4:3 (16:12) ratios. 11.5 is 16:10.47 Air is 16:10.51
