My contract runs out in the end of this year. I want to buy a phone upright. I wanted P40 pro however, I feel P30 pro would be better option as I watch a lot of apps that aren't on Huawei store (BBC, Channel 4, Netflix without third party download which always does not work)
Would P30 pro be a good deal? I want a phone with a good screen for movies, films, videos, a fast phone, good battery, gaming and a phone that is very good for video and camera. Or would Pixel 4XL be better option than P30 pro?

It's a very good phone, I'm using it for over 3 months now everything is great including battery life & camera, just updated it to the April patch and I really like the double knuckle on the screen to take screen shots.

lasaa, 27 Apr 2020What do you mean no google updates for p30 pro? As far as I... morethere are definitely google services on this phone. but I don't think it will get android 11 by google
it will probably get either Huawei's own OS(highly unlikely) or open-source android 11
and yes it comes preinstalled ith GMS

Anonymous, 01 May 2020I have the P30 Pro, and should I upgrade to P40 Pro, wait t... moreokay this all depends on what you're okay with
if you are okay with no GMS and can use the phone without the google play store( which can be sideloaded if you want) then go for p40 series phone its a huge improvement in every aspect
however, if you can't live without google( which again can be sideloaded) then go for the p40 plus

I can say this with confidences the honour 9 lite will last me a day with no gaming and that is a huge eat considering the LCD display and 3000mah battery

Very poor phone overall. Great hardware, cameras, design and ergonomics completely ruined by Huawei software overlay on top of Android.
The useabilty of the phone are impeded by the display sleeping. There's no option to extend awake time beyond 10 minutes. If you're out cycling and using the phone to navigate then pretty soon you are looking at a black screen. Same if you're cooking and reading a recipe from the phone. This sleep time is reduced further by the phone app. So annoying.
In short Huawei's interference with Android is a deal breaker for me and I plan on replacing the phone. Too many times I find uninstalled apps have reappeared without my consent. Too many nagging requests to sign away privacy and too many features withheld unless personal information is given. I often find settings have defaulted away from my settings when the phone is restarted. I am fed up with the interference. This is my phone Huawei and I'll use it as I see fit.
Zero points for the inscreen fingerprint reader too. Too many times this just fails to recognise my fingerprint. It is really annoying. If your fingers are even slightly dirty then good luck getting the FP reader to work at all.
In conclusion I can't recommend the phone. The cameras are brilliant, but the user experience stinks and I am selling my copy. A great phone ruined by crappy software.
