P50 Pro has 90 mm optics. So P40 Pro has only 1.4 longer focal length.
But it's 64 Mp to 12 Mp. That's 5.3 times difference, so digital zoom will be much better

P50 Pro Plus will have completely different camera array. Going to use new bigger Sony IMX 50MP 1/1.18" sensor, periscope and all.

It has only ever been a 3D ToF sensor mainly used for facial recognition unlock. Huawei only ever put an ultrawide selfie camera on their Nova series phones.

Good thing they removed the ultra wide selfie cam, the dual pill cutout looks ridiculous. Also the 120hz screen is a nice addition. With the right camera software, this camera will be one of the best if not the best on the market in terms of quality and versatility.

I actually use 2x and 5x often, having hi res one with brighter lens is actually better than small resolution but hazy output, it's similar to what xiaomi done before, compared to old Huawei 10x it was better, so I like their take on.
Pro+ would still be a different though, it's bound to be improved.
