Huawei P9 now tipped to launch second week of April

George, 07 March, 2016

Huawei had officially announced a press event in Berlin for March 9, and it made every bit of sense to be the announcement of the P9 smartphone. The timing is about right, the date rings with the model number, it was a match made in heaven. Apparently not.

Over the weekend @evleaks revealed that the P9 is coming on April 6th, but a few hours ago the leakster had second thoughts and the date is now more of a guideline. The launch date had been given to him in number of days and not a precise date, so the pesky February 29 might have messed up the calculations.

There's little about the Huawei P9 that will surprise us at this point, as the smartphone often made the news in renders and a couple of sets of live images. In terms of hardware, we expect to see the in-house Kirin 950 chipset, found in the Mate 8, 5.2-inch FullHD display and a dual-camera setup, among other things.
