Huawei Petal Search turns into a full-blown search engine
The App Gallery has served as Huawei’s app store for some time now and in June, we saw the launch of Petal Search - a search engine that provides you with APKs of popular apps that aren’t yet available on the App Gallery. Now, Petal Search has gained even more useful features and can function as an independent search engine apart from helping you find apps.
The Petal Search app now works as a general search engine providing results for regular queries alongside news, images and videos. You can also use it for shopping and booking flights just like on Google or Bing. In our testing search results were provided by Microsoft Bing though other reports claim that regions like Spain and Turkey feature independent indexing directly from Huawei.

You can also add a Petal Search widget directly on your home screen for easier access. According to reports, Huawei is looking to further overhaul Petal Search by integrating its own Celia digital assistant in a bid to become independent from Google in the search world. We’ll be on the lookout for more developments with Petal Search but for now, it’s still a work in progress.
