Huawei to bring the Kirin 990 to India
Huawei announced the Kirin 990 chipset at IFA 2019 and we expect it to arrive with the Mate 30 smartphones. They will be launched on Thursday, September 19, in Munich, Germany, although rumors have been suggesting the devices won’t be for sale in Europe.
Well, Indian customers are lucky. Today, the local division confirmed the “world’s first flagship 5G SoC” will arrive in India “with upcoming Huawei smartphones”. Given the Mate lineup is ready for launch, it is a pretty safe guess what the suggestion is.
The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is expected to arrive with extremely curved edges of the display, occupying the room for physical keys. We expect it to come with haptic feedback, instead of buttons, like the vivo NEX 3 that was unveiled yesterday.
Interestingly enough, the press release says “Kirin 990 and Kirin 990 (5G)”, meaning devices with both chips will arrive in India. However, the 5G network is practically non-existent in the country, making the press release we received pretty much an announcement for the release of the Mate 30 devices.
Of course, you can purchase the phone in India and then use it over 5G networks in countries where the next-gen connectivity is available through the proper bands. We are still waiting on an official announcement of the market launch date from Huawei India, but once the device is globally unveiled, a message should follow imminently.
