XxX, 27 Feb 2019Should be available in the Philippines since february 23...... moreReceived my order of this less than 24 hours ago and I've been using for the entire day now, here's my off the cuff mini-review. Lightweight, narrow bezels, latest Android...so far, average battery performance and endurance that will last a day of moderate usage, tri-slot: dual sim+microSD, good price point. I'm no mobile gamer but I think it'll just do OK for mobile casual games but not resource intensive ones. Both cameras are decent under good lighting but definitely not for low light. There's a noticeable and annoying lag in both cameras in live view processing when RAM is nearly full, it's understandable given unoptimized Mediatek processor and limited RAM but again it's a nuisance. Some GUIs overlays are also not optimized, some apps have cropped notification bars instead of scaling with the display, either it could be a problem with the apps themselves or the system itself. No fingerprint but face unlock works 90% of the time, even in low light as advertised. Average sound performance on speakers but good signals reception on mobile, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Good to see now you can get a nice phone with 3GB/32GB and reasonable performance for only 130 dollars. Competition from the chineses is good.

This uses the same chipset from Redmi 6A. Redmi 6A compared to Redmi 5A which uses Snapdragon 425, the 425 performs faster and more battery efficient. And... 425 is uses 28nm architecture and is much slower at around 1.4ghz. Maybe Redmi 6A is less optimized, or it only shows that Mediatek A series is less competent than the old and rusty Snapdragon 425. Only Mediatek P60 and above are worth to be used.
